Excellent Results
I used these fermentation weights to make sauerkraut and had excellent results. They kept the cabbage fully submerged, prevented mold, and were easy to handle and clean. A simple tool that makes fermentation more reliable—I highly recommend them.

Just what I Needed - great for any Pickle/Fermentation
So far this is great and Exactly as advertised. Made of thick durable glass, one of the 4 even dropped about a foot with no crack or chip on the way to the dishwasher for an easy high-temp clean before use. Fit great inside multiple fermentation jars and did Exactly the job it's intended for, allowing bubbles to escape and keeping the vegetables beneath the surface of the brine. Another round in the dishwasher for 2 of them after 2 of the jars were emptied (along with the glass jars and lids themselves) and they're back in the original padded box until the next pickle/fermentation project. Very pleased with this, saves time and cleaning when you don't need to keep adding brine to the very brim of the jar to keep everything submerged and much less fizzing and spillage from bubbling fermentation 😉 Excellent Product - and the shipping was fast and efficient, as well (but so far through Amazon I've yet to be disappointed in that regard... 👍)

Great for fermenting.
I only wish these were slightly larger, like maybe 1cm. But they are nice and heavy for keeping ferments below the brine. Obviously you need to be able to get them in and out of the jar easily, but they also need to cover the entire contents of the jar. Just started my first vegetable ferment, so we’ll see how well they do the job.

An important tool for an artist, too
As relief printmaker I need a smooth, heavy and easy to hold weight for my smaller handmade prints. This is an important and not expensive tool. Since I am also a teacher, I can also use these in my workshops. Definitely a quality product, whatever you use it for. I would buy a larger one, as well, if it was available.

Heavy, Perfectly Proportioned, Easy to Remove
It's remarkable how something so simple as a sauerkraut weight could get things right in so many ways. They are heavy, robust, perfectly sized and proportioned for quart-sized Ball wide-mouthed canning jars. They are smooth and shiny. I love the way that they catch tiny bits of moisture as you press them into the jar, keeping it from overflowing the jar. They the perfect height and they are easy to remove. I would not make kimchee or sauerkraut without them. They might be slightly better if there were a red or black bubble inside the handle to help one notice them; they disappear a little too readily. Mine have come perilously close to being flung onto the floor or slipping down the garbage disposal because of it. But this is a quibble.

Great little grip handles and just enough weight for small batches, smooth edges and bottom.
The built in handles were pretty slippery when I first tried them on the counter top but they didn't slip at all once I had them in the jars. The handles have vertical grooves in them for grip. They aren't real heavy but work good and at 1" thick I wouldn't want them any thicker. I did have to leave extra head room in the jars to account for expansion of the cabbage; I actually had to take a little of the juice out after a day because they were overflowing. They are perfect for carrots. I haven't done mixed vegies yet but they will work great for those too.
