Kid finger saver
Have a toy box that slams shut? These are perfect. Directions are too complex for me so I eyeballed the installation and it worked out perfect. I am pretty sure I have saved some kid fingers with this item.

Loses tension quickly
Poorly constructed! Hinges were used on a coffee table. The initial stability was good, but they lose their ability to hold tension quickly. Allowing the table top to SLAM shut!

Great quality
Have grandchildren and the large toy box has a lid the Louis X14 could use as a guillotine. Was very concerned the kids would chop off a finger or more when lifting so ordered these. Only needed one - holds the lid in place absolutely. Highly recommended.

Not soft closed if installed the way I did
I like that my trash lid will stay open now (without fall backward) because of the hinges. There were no installation instructions. The soft close only works if you can install the hinges so they pull outward when close lid. I could not do that with this lid. My hinges pull inward to close. I think it is made more for a toy chest lid.

First set was defective but replacement worked perfectly
I received my first set. I was initially impressed by the quality. The hinge itself is heavy and seemingly well built, however what attaches the hinge to the cabinet is a metal bracket with a plastic bushing. The plastic was trash. They clearly know this because they toss a couple more in your bag. They are brittle (wrong plastic composition). So installing all of the bushings broke. I did an exchange and the second set I received were better, not 1 broke. I'm still nervous about the longevity but at the moment I'm happy. If they fix the plastic components to a better plastic I would give 5 stars but I cant do that with that known product flaw. I am happy with the customer service and not upset with what I got now that it's working.

Worked Fine For Me
I'm surprised by the comments. I agree the directions are garbage, but the install to me was self explanatory. I could see it being a challenge for someone not mechanically inclined. I made a 2'x4' pine chest and one of these was more than adequate to hold the lid up, see my attached photo. I think the quality matches the price point. If needing something that's going to take a little abuse, like a toy box, these might not work for you, but I think they more than make the grade in most applications.

Product works well... but it's not easy to install and It should be recalled (potential DANGER)
I would like to start by saying that I was able to successfully install my hinges and the product works fairly well; however, I firmly believe that this product should be recalled because if it is installed according to the instructions, it poses an extreme danger. (Hence why I gave it two stars) Pros: - Product is sturdy and well-made - When installed correctly, the "slow-close" feature works fairly well Cons: - Instructions are HORRIBLE (useless, really) with grainy pictures, confusing dimensions, and little support - Using the dimensions provided in the instructions led to originally incorrect installation (slammed shut) - Unless installed PERFECTLY, the slow-close feature will NOT work As I stated previously, I would imagine that MOST installations will be done incorrectly, which means that your slow-close will not work properly and could pose a serious danger. I would highly recommend that this product be removed from Amazon until the manufacturer can provide proper, easy-to-follow instructions. If you did/do buy this product, here's a few tips to ensure that you installation won't sever any fingers: 1 - When your lid is fully closed, both of the mounting centers should be in-line (the same distance) 2 - If your lid does not close completely, that means you need to move your base mount in closer and your lid mount out further 3 - If your lid SLAMS shut, that means you need to move your base mount further out and your lid mount in closer

Yes!
My husband built our granddaughter a beautiful toy box for Christmas and needed some slow closing hinges so the heavy lid did not slam shut on her or our grandsons fingers. He used heavy, thick oak wood and these are holding up great and doing exactly what he needed them to do. Also very heavy duty and strong material. Well worth the price!
