Progresso Soup, Traditional, Chicken Noodle Soup, 19 oz Cans (Pack of 6)

This is one of my favorite lunch staples, and something that I try to keep stocked in my food pantry at all times. (I also love the steak and noodles variety.) It's much, much better than the original version of Cambell's chicken noodle soup, and and for the price makes for a tasty, low-cal, and filling lunch (or even dinner). I'll doctor it up sometime by adding a little lemon juice, fat-free sour cream, or mozzarella or parmesan cheese. Add a few crackers, and it's a substantial meal. I am particularly happy that this is available through Amazon Prime, since I live on a bridge-less island and have to haul my groceries over on a ferry. Now, periodically a box of this soup is delivered to my cottage porch by the island UPS lady...and with no shipping fee!...giving me a constant supply on hand.

I loved this soup. The broth is terrific, and the vegetables and chicken plentiful. Makes for a very quick and satisfying lunch. I also love the fact that you don't need a can opener, making it very "carry to work" friendly. I find the noodles, although thick, very tasty. I would wonder how thin noodles would hold up during the packing process, and the reheating. This is one of my all time favorite Progresso soups.

Intense broth tastes like it was made with roasted bones. Personally, I think it's a touch salty, which isn't needed with such a robust stock. Chicken pieces are large cubes, whose texture reminds me of an older stewing hen. It has thick slices of Carrots and Celery. Noodles are large thick spirals whose texture is very similar to those found in Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup . Unlike other Progresso soups I've had, this had enough goodies to make eating this enjoyable. Since the broth is so robust, sometimes I'll add some water, then add a handful of Harmony House Foods Mixed Dried Vegetables for Soup ; to bring up the food values and give the soup some needed texture. At $6-per-cup of deli soup, this $2-per-can bargain makes for a lunch in Midtown NYC a delight and saving~!!! I've stashed a few cans in my office cabinet for those "working lunches" or "working dinners" where a cup of soup just gets you through to main meal. Not too salty (although, sodium watchers should read the label) but noodles and real chicken do make a full appearance. My favorite: Chicken Noodle, Homestyle Chicken, Chickarina, Italian-Style Wedding. Highly recommended. .

The cans of soup were delivered but they were all dented and smashed in.

I love this Progresso soup! It tastes great and has excellent favor. Great as a soup for dinner or by itself for lunch. I add a little pepper to spice it up. And the price coupled with free shipping (not having to carry extra cans home from the market) make this a great deal. Amazon makes sure that they are always well packaged and delivered on time.
