New CEILING FAN CAPACITOR CBB61 4.5uf + 6uf + 5uf 5 WIRE 250V

Item came a day ahead of anticipated delivery. Color coding was identical to factory part. Minor issue is it is about 1.5 to 2 mm larger than original. Not using double sided tape to fasten internally or cardboard spacer was sufficient. I think this probably varies from model to model so every case may be different, depending on light kit, etc... other than that works like a charm. Three speeds again as it should be. Less than 10 bucks instead of over a hundred for a new fan makes sense. Depends on your comfort level in tearing things apart. This was actually pretty easy. Less than an hour start to finish. Used Wago instead of twist or crimp(original) , tinned leads before inserting. Time will tell on part quality.

I needed to replace the cap on my ceiling fan (hi, med, lo, off style). I was concerned that the cap was made by a 3rd party vendor, but bought it anyway because it was the cheapest available. When it arrived, I measured each cap to verify it was in spec. Close enough for ceiling fan usage (e.g. the 6uF cap measured 6.2uF). The cap is installed and the ceiling fan is working fine.

Saved me the $100+ from buying a new fan!

The specs matched my original capacitor and so did the wire colors. It worked and restored the fan speed and reduced the hum. My only criticism is the stranded wires are not soldered solid like the original. 4 of the 5 wires need to be plugged into the pullchain switch. When the stranded wire is soldered, its stiff and easy to push in. When not soldered, you have to twist the strands and it's a struggle to get them in, and I fear that over time, they may come loose due to vibration. When you buy these at Menards, the strands are soldered together, except for the red wire because it has to get spliced to the red wire with a wire nut. If I had realized this, I might have purchased the one from Menards. It was the same price, but the brown and purple wire colors were swapped with the microfarad settings. I chose the one on Amazon because the wire colors and microfarad values were exactly the same. If I had known the strands weren't soldered, I might have gotten the one from Menards. Otherwise it seems to be good and the right replacement. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the lack of solder.

Medium and High speeds were fine, but on low speed the fan stopped. This is in a Hampton Bay fan that came with the house which worked until recently. My guess is the fan is 8 or 9 years old. As a fan it was pretty good, quiet and no wobble. No reason to replace the fan from that perspective. Anyway, I purchased a new switch and installed it, same behaviour, no low, works on medium and high. After a little more research, I found that the capacitor actually controls the speed based on switch input and decided to replace the capacitor. This one is almost identical to the one that was already installed. The wire color codes even matched. Simple to install with very basic electrical tools and skills. The fan is all buttoned up and back to working normally. All in all a bit of a learning experiance for me and much simpler and less expensive than replacing the whole fan.

My 3 speed ceiling fan was only running on high speed, or off, so I changed the capacitor and now the fan is running on all 3 speeds. Very happy with the capacitor.
