ESI MoCo | Passive Monitor Controller with 2 stereo I/O

It's curious that something like this exists to fill a gap in the market, it does few things, I was baffled to find out I needed it and that there wasn't a cheaper and simpler solution when all I wanted was just something to be able to switch off speakers whilst still retaining headphone sound from the audio interface box. This is what you need. Yeah it's 50 quid but it really is the sort of thing you wondered how you managed without and it's a high quality studio level bit of equipment that has surpassed all my expectations, and I have found uses for it in different ways, connect up a 3.5mm aux input and press a button for that, the volume knob is 'grab and go' and super smooth and this thing adds absolutely no noise. I added XLR cables from the Moco to the monitor speakers which got rid of low noise going direct from the audio interface, which was happening using the phono connectors which now go to the Moco, that was a pleasant surprise. So yeah, for the price this is an essential bit of studio kit if you need it. Well done ESI on a fine product.

I originally bought the Mackie Big knob - whilst I liked the look and feel and functionality in terms of buttons, the dim button was a good thought, at full volume I was getting a hum.. I have decent cables, short run, so was confident it wasn't a cable issue. Had it replaced with another Mackie Big Knob (passive) and had the same issue, so sent that one back too.. just received this Moco and it's fabulous.. absolute zero noise/hum at full volume, so full marks for quality internal circuitry ESI.. did mean I had to buy some XLR leads as you need both 1/4 inch jack and XLR to use the dual monitor A/B function.. but ultimately, I'm a happy customer.. looks and feels great.. Also, I found the Mackie Big Knob (passive) couldn't quite reach the same level of output as going straight from audio interface to monitors.. whereas this Moco can!

I needed a way to provide two inputs to my powered speakers to switch between my DJ controller and an aux input (in this case a Sonos Port) without needing my DJ controller being plugged in / turned on. Setting up the MoCo is child's play, just plug in the inputs and outputs and you're good to go - no power required. The unit feels well made with soft touch plastics on the large and fluid knob and buttons which feel good quality (if a little plastic-y). There are rubber feet on the bottom which do a good job of stopping the device moving around, even when connected to the thick XLR cables. The only criticism of the device I have is that there is some channel-bleed between the two channels. If I select channel A (my DJ controller) and there is line input on channel B, you can hear it bleed through ever so slightly but noticeable nonetheless. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase given the price and the channel bleed can be mitigated by stopping the input on the redundant channel.

Massively awesome bit of kit !! Solves the Xonar problem of ASIO's lack of volume control as it acts as a very competent and highly flexible passive pre-amp. Nuff said buy one now lol :)

Great. Only downside is the volume control has poor taper. Volume is minimally affected in the first three quarter turn and only really noticeable in the last eighth

I tried a couple of mackie big knobs before this. The big knobs both had issues with either noisy pots or decreasing the volume of the signal. The signal also felt a bit coloured to me but I could be wrong. This unit is way better, keeps the same volume as source and sounds the same. The build quality is not as good as the mackie as it’s plastic but still well made and has a slim profile. I’m not a massive fan of the looks but it not offensive. Recommend product.

Well made, solid case with smoothly turning knob. It’s true that the taper on the pots doesn’t give a very linear effect, but there’s no noise and you only have to turn it until you get the level you want. I haven’t noticed any particular imbalance between the two channels. The complement of controls is useful, both fir use as a monitor controller for recording or as the front end for an active speaker or power amp-only hifi system - I use one input for my phono pre-amp and the other for my DAC, which in turn can be switched between the remaining inputs. Minimal system with max clarity and involvement! Going back to pure stereo after listening through an AV system has been a joy, and the controller has let me use existing components simply and effectively. I can’t detect any effect from the passive volume control (it’s probably better than the adjustment pots on the back of my speakers) so I’m happy. Recommended.

I wanted to use this unit but I've ordered THREE separate units from different sellers, only 1 being via Amazon and they have ALL exhibited the same fault where channel A stopped outputting unless channel B was enabled on the outputs. Brand new units! The first 1 developed the fault after a few days use, the following 2 both turned arrived with the same fault. Buyers beware, this isn't a seller issue this is clearly a product / manufacturing issue. I'm just glad the fault on the first unit showed itself in a few days rather than being stuck months down the line with no return option.

Senza dubbio in facia superiore si trovano cose migliori, molto piu' costose. Dipende dall'uso giustificato che se ne fa. Zero ronzii, fruscii o aggiunte di rumori di fondo, ottima qualita prezzo, look accattivante, ottima connettivita diversificata..Stabile e robusto e non per ultimo il grande potenziometro oppone un pochino di resistenza nel girare, come e' giustissimo fare. Di negativo forse il tipo di Gomma/Plastica nel potensiometro che tra 2 anni si squagliera' e sara' "leggermente appiccicoso" al tatto, ma nulla di importante.PRODOTTO VALIDISSIMO.10.

I am absolutely can’t live without this thing. It is simple good quality worth the money and absolutely easy to use. Has all the connections I need and very good quality.
