this is a great way to improve your editing workflow
this is a great way to improve your editing workflow, allowing you to keep your eyes on the image as you make changes to the sliders. i do wish it had some more customizable buttons, but this satisfies about 95% of my editing workflow. i really appreciate the tactile knobs and wheels. The construction is entirely plastic, and i do wish the buttons had better response in the corners - slight disappointment at this price point. i still give it 5 stars because of the huge benefits. The loupedeck also sits nice on top of my macbook pro keyboard, allowing me to use the trackpad in addition to the loupedeck, very clever design choice. this is great when i need to use the brush and sliders. would definitely recommend for professionals, or if loupedeck ever comes out with a more metal version, maybe wait for that.

An excellent tool for post processing hundreds of shots. With a little bit of effort this can control things other than LR.
If you are a hands-on person, this is worth a try. It is very satisfying to reach for an exposure knob or twist the white balance knob. A quick tap on the star buttons for rating your photographs. One I feel is underrated by folks is the set of hue/saturation/luminance rollers--in the kind of event photography I do, I often find people have an orange cast to their face after my regular post processing, and if that happens, I just put my finger on the wheel for orange and roll a little bit off until the skin tones are pleasing. An added bonus of this unit is that it really is just a customized MIDI controller, so you can use the software of your choice to allow you to use Loupedeck to control other software. On the Mac I use Keyboard Maestro, and I have created settings to control other photo software such as Photo Mechanic, as well as music software such as Capo or iRealPro, assigning various knobs to control tempo, volume, key, and so forth. Note that Loupedeck does not do this out of the box--it comes with software for Lightroom only--but if you already have software like Keyboard Maestro, then you are only limited by your imagination.

Good Product, and will decrease the amount of time to develop
A well though out product. I bout this unit and took me a couple of photo developing sessions to get used to. I have to say it does make the flow go quicker once you get comfortable with the dials. I wish the app or adobe had a way of showing the percentage or numeral change each knob does on the screen while editing the picture. I do however dislike the software that sometimes bugs out and the computer won't read the device unless you turn off the application and unplug device or simple reboot the PC. I am currently running on windows 10 and hope for new software upgrade to the loupe deck app so it can fix all those bugs. This is worth a try

Amazing Time Saver that Helps Deliver Better Images!
I do real estate photography and this tool has cut my time to process images from a shoot down dramatically. What used to be a lot of "mousing around" is now some quick dial movements. It didn't take long to load up and customize some presets on the upper buttons and using the quick star rating helps me hone in on the images I want to work on or export from raw files to jpeg. Great example, yesterday I photographed 2 homes and both had short turn around times. What would have taken me 2 to 3 hours, took 45 minutes. I also found myself adjusting and fine tuning beyond what I normally would have done. Much like a keyboard, you quickly learn the position of certain dials and can focus on the image and make the adjustment (and not worry about the position of the mouse.) Truly a great product and worth every cent for the time it saves!

Meh at best. Possible issues with Mac Plugin
SHORT VERSION: For those who do not want to read the entire review, let me break it down. This is Meh, at best. It has a great potential, but falls short in a lot of areas. If you really have 200 dollars to throw away, than give it a try. LONG VERSION: To start, let met start off by saying that I am a professional wedding photographer. We photograph roughly between 25-35 weddings a year. That means we will take roughly, 125K-175K photos this year, just on weddings alone. Each one of them is going to have to be looked at by me. We currently use Lightroom CC as our main editing software. In an attempt to speed up the process of editing, and to keep my hands from killing me after I cull a wedding, I decided to give the LoupeDeck a try. First, Ill give you the Pros: It really does speed things up. Being able to have all of your adjustments right on your lap, ready to edit is incredible. Usually, When I am editing I have to scroll the adjustments panel to find what I am looking for. With the loupedeck, that is completely gone. I set up my laptop on a stand, put the loupe deck on my lap, and get to work. It has everything you could possibly need as a option. The one and only thing that I have to use the actual computer for, is the custom cropping. Now, Unfortunately its time for the bad. First, the buttons are terrible. The are very large, and you have to make sure you hit it right in the middle for it to register. If you happen to hit the edge, the button will depress but it wont register. The cost is $200.00 for a big fancy mouse. yeah, it comes with software. But its a huge cost for something that you don’t really NEED. Now for the worst part. I have had a issue with COPY not actually copying. Sometimes (a lot of the time). I will hit copy so that all of my adjustments are copied to the next photo. The screen will say “develop settings copied” and when I paste them, they will not paste. Sometimes, it is even a older version that was copied. So If I had my exposure up by lets say +.80. I will copy that until it needs to be changed. Then I will change it to lets say +.10, then copy (screen registers that something was copied), then paste. But +.10 will not be pasted, but the older +.80. I have been in contact with Loupedeck themselves trying to resolve this issue. I have been performing debugs for them, but they cant seem to figure it out. The worst part, is while I have been working with them to fix it, I have gone past my return window. So… im stuck with it. If I was within my return window, it would be going back. Now, if I wasn’t having this issue, I wouldn’t try and return it. I don’t think it has happened to everyone. But we have three APPLE computers that all have the same issue. Im hoping when they update the Lightroom plug in software, it resolves my issue.

It was a bit tricky to get the Mac to recognise this deck. Also the deck comes with no real instructions - some things are obvious and intuitive but others like cropping are less so. I’m sure there are plenty of tutorials online though and once set up it’s just a joy to use. So much better than a mouse.
