My stock of berbere from Ethiopia had run out so I had to look elsewhere and although I prefer the authentic product or to purchase from an Ethiopian source, this is a very good blend of spices and has that great berbere kick. I love using it to make misir wot, a spicy Ethiopian lentil stew, yum!

This Berbere is one of the best ! I use it in lentil and chicken curries but I feel that it could compliment as a dry rub too!!

Okay, I’m Ethiopian, and know what berbere is supposed to taste like and. A lot of the times, companies mix chili powder, some nuts, and soy and marketing as berbere but those products don’t meet the authentic profile of the blend. Often times tasting bland. This product right here hits the target pretty close. Most of the spices are there, and it taste almost the same. There are some exceptions, but not that much. One of the main one is that it has little to no salt in it making it taste a tad odd at first. After adding salt to the the spice it started to taste a little more authentic (a little different but that’s okay). It’s not a deal breaker and I totally recommend, especially if you can’t make berbere on your own.

I've bought several berbere blends in the past, and this one is my favorite. Others I've tried had too much cumin or not enough heat. I do wish it came in a resealable bag, however.

I have never had "authentic" berbere before so I don't have a comparison. I was under the impression that berbere was hot (that is what the recipes and articles kept saying). This spice blend has adequate heat. Don't add salt to your recipe because this spice blend has enough (even though it is Not Listed on the Ingredients!)(!) Would I buy it again? No. After experiencing it several times, I keep tasting celery salt. (which is not on the ingredient list either.) Hmmmm..... Also, NOTICE that there is No Return on this product.

only drawback is the bag is not resealable - makes it a bit inconvenient if one wants to use enough for one meal. delicious, spicy mixture to add to Ethiopian, African, and other dishes.

I used this as a rub for grilled chicken. The flavors come through well. If you like spicy, but not too spicy, then give it a try. If you like extra spicy, you’ll probably need to add something with a little more zing to get the most out of it.
