Playfoam Combo 8-Pack

I got this foam for our girls, who are 7 years old. They were absolutely infatuated! First they experimented with combining colors, then they took to building elaborate things. Buildings, characters, creatures. They were engrossed in this pretend world where they could create anything- the foam holds its shape much more easily than playdough. It is very very lightweight, so your buildings can be completely top-heavy and still stand up. To our amazement, they sat there playing with this at the table for 4 hours!!! Laughing, singing, doing silly voices. I've never seen anything hold their attention so long. When they were done, they just put the foam in a ziplock bag and there was nothing to clean up. Our dining table has a glossy white surface, this left no marks or stains. No messes like with playdough, kinetic sand, etc. We only gave them half of the colors so we still have half the pack for some future occasion where we need them out of our hair. Though for less than 10 bucks, even if they never touch it again it was worth it. As far as some of the negative reviews, I would honestly say please use common sense. Don't use this on carpets. Don't let your kid stick it to the curtains or the cat. For an activity to do sitting down calmly, it's great. If your kiddo is still a tot and will try to put the foam in their nose, I'd say hang onto it until they're a bit older and can appreciate it more.

My kids love this foam! My 5 year old will play for a long time while sitting when using this foam! He’s using up and zooming around and this keeps him busy. My kids use their imaginations while playing with this and they have created so many cool things. All of our colors were mixed together and put into one container. It needs to be replaced but my kids have used this for almost a year. This foam doesn’t leave a big mess like other brands!! We have had the kinds that are so sticky that you can’t even enjoy it, then it dries out within a couple of days. We’ve also had some that leaves a sticky residue all over the table. Nothing seems to take it off besides goo gone. You won’t that those issues with this foam! Get it!

I would say this was just ok. Not as soft as I expected and it’s sticky which isn’t awesome. Leaves a sticky film on things that it touches. My toddler likes it.

My children were gifted a ton of play-dough for Christmas and after the 4 billionth time they asked to play with it (to which I again said "maybe later") I went onto Amazon looking for a better alternative. And here it is! As other reviews have said, my kids immediately put it into one giant ball, but each ball holds its own against the others and doesn't look bad. My kids have also used this on many surfaces and it never once stained or stuck. I have noticed that sometimes I'll find one little ball stuck to something (or someone) but it's rare. Just last night my oldest pushed it onto her face to make an imprint and it didn't stick to her face or hair at all. It does feel a bit sticky when you're playing with it but once you stop holding it your hands don't feel sticky at all. So far I've had this for a month and it hasn't dried out even though we leave it out on the counter - it gets played with every single day. My one tiny complaint is about this package, not the product - that is, I didn't realize the bottom 4 colors are glitter. Granted, if you look really closely you can see that those colors are called "sparkle" but it doesn't mention glitter in the product description anywhere. I hate glitter so I threw them away, but this was only about $1 more than the 4 pack so I'm not too upset about it. Update 1/6/18 - So the original batch lasted about 3/4 months before getting too dirty to play with any more (it got dropped a lot and may or may not have taken a trip on the dog once or twice). However, it never dried out, and the new batch we got has held up longer (kids are older/drop it less...). I'd still highly recommend it.

They say that this product will not dry out and I have not tested that, hopefully that is at the very least true. My issue, it says it's a great stocking stuffer, which with two kids, I thought would be fun to split them between the two. But the packaging makes this impossible. The packaging is not reusable. You can not put them back into the packaging to store. Once they are open, that's it. I'm guessing we'll just store it in a ziplock baggy... This is where I really appreciate play-doh coming in a storage container. but it'll be fine, it's something different and instead of splitting it between my kids, I just got a second one... so yay, win for the company that designed this packaging, you got me to buy two...

I have bought this exact set multiple times! my kids adore it! I love all the colors. They are vibrant and fun. Also that when you mix them it doesn't act like playdough and turn one yucky color. It doesn't dry out so it lasts so much longer than other products. I have compared it to many other brands from other stores, and this one seems to be the best quality. It doesn't leave that weird residue that you can never get off no matter how hard you wash. It comes easily out of hair, rugs, fabrics, and kitty's tails. I just throw it in a ziplock baggie when they are done with it. I think it is well worth the price. I have paid the same consistent price for about a year now. I also like that I don't have to wait to see if it is going to go on sale, or worry that the price fluctuates and it isn't worth it so I have to wait. I buy this for my daughter's head start classroom all the time. all the parents love it and have asked for the link multiple times!

I received this product today and was super excited to use it. I bought it with the intent of using it as a stress ball/fidget item. This product, however, has caused me a lot of stress instead of relieving it. For starters, it is rock hard upon opening. It is a five to ten minute process of massaging each section of Playfoam to even get it to a point of usability. From that point, it becomes EXTREMELY messy. Little foam balls began sticking to my hands once the product becomes malleable. It would take several frustrating minutes of picking the little pieces off before I could put away each section of Playfoam. Additionally, each time that I would play with the Playfoam I would end up with a significant layer of the adhesive that’s used to keep the foam together on my hands. However, the MOST frustrating part of this product is the irritation thatcher skin on my hands developed immediately afterwards. My hands began to burn, itch, and feel tight about fifteen minutes into my interaction with the Playfoam. Despite washing my hands several times and applying OTC hydrocortisone cream, my hands STILL feel massively uncomfortable, even though it’s been eight hours since I had contact with the product. As a result of the irritation, I am now unable to accomplish any of the plans that I had for my day as I have to keep reapplying cream to my hands and then wear cotton gloves in between applications of the cream in order to stave off the intense discomfort that I feel. Frustratingly, the packaging is basically unable to be reassembled upon opening so now I am stuck with a product that I’m allergic to. This was a total waste of money. I don’t recommend this product in the slightest.

This stuff is amazing. It doesn't dry out, stays sticky and hours of fun. Just make sure you have no issues with colours mixing cause you will not be keeping them separated for long. We keep ours in small dollar store containers with screw on lids to keep them stored.

Absolutely brilliant product. After watching the Youtube videos we decided to buy this for our little one, along with black plasticine, googly eyes, and plastic eggs with toys inside. Although they are much smaller than we first thought, this didn't stop our little one from thoroughly enjoying this wonderful playfoam, so much so that we've just bought another pack so she can make bigger things with it. As for the stickiness, yes, sure it's a bit sticky, but that doesn't take away from the fact that this is a great fun toy for young children, and curiously, adults as well, :-) What we did when we presented this to our little one was to put the foam around the plastic eggs, put googly eyes on them and some black plasticine in the shape of funny mouths. Just like the YT video that she loves. Watching her face light up was amazing, and she uses the plastic eggs to wrap the playfoam around so she can pretend she is opening the shapes just like they do in the YT video. She also loves making faces with them or other shapes and she spends ages using the playfoam, and I feel that anyone who doesn't 'get' this product is allowing their child to sorely miss out on creativity and improving their child's fine motor controls and hand/eye coordination skills which come in handy for when they are older. After all, what's a little mess compared to the fun a child can have playing with something that encourages creativity and intelligent play?
