Very Sturdy and Great Looking Handrails
We live in the Evergreen State and are finishing up a kitchen remodel project. Washington is very beautiful with trees everywhere. My wife custom designed the top stair banisters, had them built by a local artist and wanted black metal handrails down to the basement. I'm just a DIY guy and wanted to use wood for the handrails so I could accommodate a drop, a turn, another drop, and another turn and still accommodate continuous handrails for safety and to meet Seattle Code (because an inspector was coming for the kitchen remodel). I spent hours reading through code websites and watching videos trying to find a solution for our unique staircase. We have grandchildren who will be growing up using these stairs so they need to be as safe and secure as possible. I found Promenaid on Amazon and thought they would accommodate our needs. Promenaid has many parts and videos to help any DIY people to assemble the handrails. I made a design, measured the needs and ordered some parts on Amazon. Once I started assembling them, I had questions that the videos couldn't answer due to my staircase. After even more research, I finally called Promenaid and was surprised to get a real person. Richard understood my dilemma and said he would get a designer involved. The designer, Charmene, asked for measurements and requested a video of the staircase. She obviously knew her job, but unfortunately, Gmail kept deleting the videos I tried sending and when she sent me files, Amazon limited what I could receive. We finally focused on the Amazons Your Messages (which is under Your Account section) for all communication and then the magic appeared. Charmene completely designed my handrails, sent pictures for me to follow and included a parts list. She recommended Promenaid's newer sprocket style connectors which were more versatile than the standard style connections and had additional options for angles. Her design worked - it is simple, yet elegant! I was able to install the handrails, adjust all the brackets to meet wall studs, added ADA compliant end caps and I am unable to pull them off the wall which I'm sure our grandchildren will try to do someday! So, for any of you DIYers thinking about handrails, give these a try and don't feel that you need to know everything and do everything by yourself!

Great design, clever way to install it at angles, and nice PVC under the rail to hand on to.
Looked around for a lot of rails, as our stairs did not have one, and for older family and friends it is a necessity. Found this one, a little more expensive than Steel Pipe rails, but looks better, comes with all the handles and end curves to make it safe and very sturdy. One feature is under the bottom of the hand rail slides a PVC strip that when you grab the handle your fingers grab onto the PVC which creates a might better grip than just an aluminum or steel rail would provide. Installation is not tough, watch the videos on their website and that helps alot. once you get the top positioned at the right height, it's easy to level it down the wall for a good fit.

Sturdy and stylish
Great product. Looks sharp. Easy to install and very functional. The stability and sturdy design are perfect for my basement stairwell. The only tough part is putting the bottom gasket into place to finish it off. Once completed it is great.

very good railing
I got these for two deck stairs railings. I used them as secondary continuous railings that is needed to pass the California code. Pros: - Very well made. - Good metal and well painted. - Nice design for the supports; - Certainly a do-it-yourself kind of railing - shipping on time, packaging good Cons: - Expensive. - The prepackaged options either have too many or too little of the supporting hardware depending on your situation. A reasonably priced ala-cart would have been better. - When connecting the rails to the end pieces, there is always a visible gap at the connection. The two pieces basically need to exactly meet at the junction but they never do. Especially if you have to cut one. That means water can get in (in case of outdoor use). An overlapping fit would have been better. - You sometimes get to a catch 22 situation when installing these rails on stairs. The railing supports head tilts left and right to accommodate the needed slope. It has a screw that needs to be tightened so it can keep its angle. you need to install the rail and the tilting head support to see what that angle is, but then you cannot fasten the screw that holds the head's angle after installation because it is either blocked by the post or the wall, unless you have a 90-degree screwdriver. If you fasten the screw before installing the railing, you are at best guessing the angle and you may be wrong and have to uninstall, reinstall. I am generally very happy with the product.

Safe, Sturdy, Stylish, Easy Install Designed to save you from a bad fall down the stairs. I love the grippy grab safety strip running the entire length of the railing -- no slipping when you grab this rail. The mounting hardware is easy to install and very sturdy. It's a gorgeous handrail to boot.

Just what was needed to "seniorize" a front step. Quality and expect to last a lifetime.
