A New York Times bestseller! Follow the fascinating journey of Captain Nemo and explore the ocean’s wonders, both real and imagined ... or are they? What if a sixteen-year-old assistant traveled aboard the storied Nautilus, the narwhal-shaped submarine of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea? And what if he were the sole survivor of the ill-fated voyage and went on to relay his adventures to a certain . . . Jules Verne? Find this brave young man’s own account in the lavishly illustrated Oceanology , a tale of an 1866 voyage of discovery that investigates diving bells and shipwrecks; coral reefs and ice canyons; sharks, giant octopi, and luminous sea monsters; underwater volcanoes, and even the legendary island of Atlantis. Perfect for Children
When I was a kid, these books were something I always wanted but could never afford. I purchased this for my six year old brother and honestly, it’s nostalgic to read through with him. It takes me back to when I would sit in the library or Barnes and Noble to read it. All the books are interactive with “artifacts” they can feel and play with. For this specific book, the script is in cursive so if your child isn’t familiar with cursive, it could be difficult to understand. The book is about ocean exploration, a companion to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but they needn’t read the book to like this one. It offers interesting facts about ocean creatures, currents, the innovations of the 19th century for ocean exploration, and more! Overall, I’m very pleased with this book. My little brother loves it and it’s sparked an interest in reading for him.

Awesome Book!
My girls, 10 and 9, really enjoyed going through this book. There are pockets with little things to find, including a paper die for a game. Neither had a hard time reading the cursive writing, but both have been taught how to write it, so I'm sure that has made a difference. Both would like more of the "ology" books!

Exciting book for kids!
My son has almost all of the "Ology" books such as Mythology (Ologies) and Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons (Ologies) so when I saw this one, I was very excited to surprise my son with it for Christmas. He is ten years old and wants to be a marine biologist whose favorite book is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. This book is based on the "true" journal of a passenger who insists that the book was in fact true. So I figured my son would love it. He poured over the other "Ology" books, so I thought he'd really love this one. He did like this one. I think maybe he's gotten a little old for these books- he's a pretty advanced reader for his age. But it is a beautiful book and he really did like it, especially since it was about so many of his favorite things all together. He didn't like it as much as I thought, but it was a good bood and I would buy it as a gift for someone else certainly.

Wonderful Gift for All
My boyfriend is interested in these types of books and had got the Dragonology one for Christmas and so I figured I would try another of the series. Let me also add that he is a grown 30 something man but these books do have a lot of great content to them and are very interesting to him. The most interesting covers so far that we've seen in this series. I am working on getting them all in the series for him - he displays them out on his coffee table too!

Since I'm an ocean lover, best purchase ever made. Been awhile reading books and this is best one yet. Very educating and super lucky growing near the ocean.
