Review: Great DVD set for S1 to S4! - Excellent DVD set for the first four seasons of the 2005 Doctor Who series. The discs themselves were fine (playable) and the box they came in is nice (as far as DVD boxes go). I also purchased the Matt Smith and the Peter Capaldi DVD sets (which I also recommend) and will probably buy the Jodie Whittaker DVD set (once the price comes down, that is). Also, another reviewer stated that there were missing episodes. Nooooo, don't believe that because these discs contain ALL of the episodes and specials. They were likely making an ASSUMPTION about missing episodes since S1 Episode 13 is not on disc 1, it's actually on disc 2. Do I recommend? Yes, yes I do. Do i regrest this purchase? No, not at all. Review: Whovians Alert! - Got a great price on this Nu-Who set. Very pleased.

Excellent copy of Series 1-4!!
The box comes with 12 discs, broken up into 3-4 episodic chunks. The last 3 specials, the Waters of Mars, and the End of Time Parts 1 and 2 on the final disc. Came with zero dents or any sort of damage. Although the last two discs somehow popped out during transit, they were however undamaged. Would recommend to any Doctor Who fans!!

The best of the new Who
Gosh. Just what I needed for my Whovian peace of mind, a collection of the complete seasons of the best of the new Who. Sure, everyone has their favorite and I'm going to go through mine. Just pointing out that my choices are the correct ones, since I'm never wrong (except when I am). So, you get seasons 1-4 in this box set, along with the Christmas specials. Woo hoo. Season 1 brings back the Doctor and changes his companion relationship to a more modern and much friendlier version. Perhaps a bit too far, given the Doctor's notorious decades of putting distance in that area, but refreshingly handled (at least for these seasons). Seasons 2-4 bring on David Tennant, the best of the new Doctors. He captures much of the best of the old (Tom Baker) while fitting in nicely with the modern plots. He has great comedic timing without the clowning of Matt Smith and can be just as dark as Peter Capaldi. We'll never know just how good Christopher Eccleston could have been as the Doctor, due to his abrupt departure after just one season, but he did superb work setting the foundation for the Doctors to come. Whether Smith was a clown by nature or by script, his seasons somewhat suffered from this and the insufferable Clara episodes. Likewise, Peter Capaldi was wasted during his two years as Clara's assistant, so we'll never truly know about him either. Finally, our new Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, is painful to watch. Not because of the novelty of a female Doctor, but the heavy-handed scripts that too often try to squeeze out "messages" instead of sci-fi. So, this is as good as you're going to get and it's darn good! I know there are some complaints about packaging, but the only thing I can fault is the annoying "overlap" style, which means you have to lift the top disc to get at the next one. If you're binge watching, not a big deal, but if you doing this over several weeks, eh. Otherwise, the discs seem quite secure and the package is a real space saver compared to 4 separate boxes. It's a great deal for a a great deal of Doctoring fun.

Works with standard dvd players
Great collection of the beginning of the new Doctor Who franchise. Dad grew up watching the originals and this was before my time but it introduced me to his favorite time traveler without subscribing to a monthly service to see the original show. Perfect for Sci-fi fans of any age, campy humor, some mild violence, basic adult words (nothing too harsh). Fit for a good Saturday afternoon binge watching.

Who Wouldn't Like 12 Discs of The Doctor
Got this collection at a great price during Xmas time. I wasn't familiar with Dr. Who, but my daughter recommended the set to me, so I picked it up. Usually I lean toward blu-ray formats, but the DVDs are in great shape, produce an excellent picture, and offer 5.1 sound. Each disc has 4-5 episodes, so even if you're a major Dr. Who fan, you'll need time and lots of sick leave to binge through all of them. I won't pretend to comment on the stories themselves (I believe in maintaining good relations with the Brits), but I can safely say many are fun, some quite moving (I could feel my two hearts breaking), and a few just kinda silly. Production values improved a lot as the series moved more deeply into the David Tennant episodes. And, of course, . . . there's Rose (sigh). Why couldn't I ever meet a woman with a British accent?! They all seem so, you know, . . . brilliant! One thing for the easily frustrated and unusually clumsy to note: I had quite a time trying to free each disc from the case they arrived in. Probably me, and not enough of a concern to drop a star, but sometimes I thought I'd crack a disc as I struggled to get each one free. I'm storing them in a CD Wallet so I avoid that problem in the future -- if there is a future. How can anyone know for sure, when all those pesky Daleks keep popping up. Anyway, what's my recommendation before I'm atomized, evaporated or reduced to a fine powder? It's "Exterminate!" -- no, what's come over me -- I mean, "Buy!" this set, especially if you catch it on sale.

Great collection
This is a great collection for a great price. It has all the Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant episodes, including the specials. It was exactly what I wanted. After reading other reviews, I was really concerned that this set would come with scratched discs. Luckily, there were no scratches and all the discs played great. I took away a star because the cases holding the discs really do suck and likely will cause scratches if I keep the discs in the original cases. Overall, I’m super pleased with this purchase. I would definitely recommend it to someone who wants to be able to watch all these episodes whenever they want.

Arrived in perfect shape and really quickly, have all the episodes and special episodes of the ninth and tenth Doctor (except The Day of the Doctor, but it is more a 11thishe Doctor's special episode so that is why), have amazing quality and even though you probably know it already because Doctor Who, it is the best show ever. The only things I'm not a big fan of are the 2 clips systems used to hold the dvds in the box, because I always feel like I can damage the DVD when I get it in or out of the box, but I don't think this is bad enough to make the product lose a star or even half of one because you can just put it in a safer case if you are too afraid to break them.

Incluyen las primeras temporadas completas, con especiales de navidad y todo. Además el menú de inicio es muy lindo para seleccionar cada episodio. Me pareció una gran compra por el precio, es mucho más bárato que conseguirlos de manera individual.

Capa veio levemente danificada, mas veio tudo funcionando. Como é restrito a região 1, precisei alterar a região do dvd player.
