I catch my bait the same day I go fishing twice a week so the dependability of my cast net is extremely important to me. I got the 8 foot net and could not be happier with it. For a long time I suffered using a 5 foot net. A bigger net will get you more live bait in your bucket in a much faster time. This net really has an unbeatable price. It is heavy and spreads open nicely, especially when casting for distance. I was so happy with this net that when the first one I bought got snagged on the sea bottom and couldn't be pulled up, I quickly purchased the same exact one. It will save you tons of money. Live bait is expensive to the point where buying it wouldn't make fishing worth it. Catching your bait and keeping them alive will not only make fishing affordable, but also a lot more productive.

For the price, this thing is perfect. I use it to cast for bait below a dam in pools 2-5' deep. The net throws easily, sinks fast, and closes well. The 3/8" is perfect for 4-6" shad. Any larger mesh and they get their heads and gills stuck in the holes and die. However, for open water and larger bait you could go up to a 1" mesh to increase its sink rate.

Nice smallish 8' net that throws well. An 8' net should spread to 16' in diameter which I couldn't manage in the lawn pulling it out. Maybe it was when they made it, but with the shaping, it is no longer a full 8' radius. The 3/8 inch net is good for most bait in fresh and coastal fishing. This one is the smallest 8' net I've ever used. Decent amount of lead weights so it sinks quickly. Line pulls smoothly through the horn. So far, it has cleaned and held up well. For the price, it is a good deal.

This works perfectly for catching live bait. I was using a 5' Walmart cast net with plastic weights and in water deeper than a couple feet, the bait would scatter before the net sunk. The metal weights drop the net fast and I catch bait a lot quicker and easier now. I love this net!

Haven't used this net in the water yet, but tossed it in my lawn and love it. This is an upgrade from a small 4.5ft radius net. This net is big! I was afraid I would struggle to throw it, but it is an easy net to use. Couple casts and I had a nice pancake hitting my lawn. It is weighted nicely and should get down on top of the bait fish quickly. It folds back up and into the storage bucket very well, which my previous net did not. Looking forward to filling this thing up with Shad! Buy this net, its a great value.

I was skeptical about the quality of this net because of the low price but I got it today and I think i'm going to be very happy with it. I'm only 95 pounds and 5ft tall and I was able to open this up very well by the second throw (see pic in my yard). It appears to be one big piece instead of six pieces sewn together like some of the more expensive nets, but honestly I couldn't tell a difference in the way it threw. I'm going to soak it in fabric softener tonight and then take it out on the boat tomorrow. Hopefully the quality holds up! Ps- The bucket is not designed to store the net like usual… It's really hard to get back in there, it's very small.

So far the net has proven to be "okay". I find a lot of the stiching to stretch out, then eventually burst. So far I've had to mend 4 holes that just continuously unravel into bigger holes if left unfixed. Im not in the US right now, so I didn't bother contacting amazon or the seller. I've been throwing nets since I was about 12...I'm 38 now. I've always used my grandfather's net that was recently stolen. He recently became ill and a bunch of family (some unknown) came over and it suddenly went missing. It was the one I learned to use and what I had been using ever since. I don't know the brand of it so I decided to try out this one. Believe it or not, my grandfather's net never tore....so the fact that this tore within the first month tells me this isn't what we had. I don't regret buying it, but I would not buy again. I wish I could get my grandfather's net back, but until then, the search continues for the right one.

The quality exceeds the Betts nets in the same price range by far. They are more supple, less stiff...this makes throwing and handling the net much easier. I have had MANY cast nets, this is my favorite, with the exception of a Calusa net, but that net was about 4 times as expensive, and no less resistant to the oyster beds. Great net, great price ! 2019 This review was from 2015. after 4 years of ownership, this is still my go-to net, I only use my other nets when I fear the oyster beds might claim some or all of the net. The net is even more supple now.
