Chatfield's Granulated Date Sugar Raw - Sugar Substitute for Kosher, Vegan and Gluten Free (Pack of 1)

After reading the book "Sugarproof ", I've almost eliminated refined and artificial sweeteners from my life. This date sugar is a perfect alternative! I mainly use it with baking and in oatmeal, at a one-to-one ratio to what I would have used of white or brown sugar. I do not recommend using it in drinks, as it doesn't completely dissolve. I use date powder for that instead. As a bonus to tasting great, date sugar is high in beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. In addition, dates are a proven source of antioxidants with strong antioxidant effects. Try this, your body will thank you!

Decent value, but could be better. Had to add a lot to get the level of sweetness right, and then it tasted odd. I think I like adding whole dates better. I get more sweet tasting finished product, with fewer dates and better taste. I add whole dates to banana smoothies and it tastes amazing! I tried adding these granules to coffee and it tasted odd. Plus, the granules didn't dissolve well, so, maybe I'll stick with whole dates, or, try the date syrup, and see if I get better results that way. Maybe some folks might not feel this way about this item, though, so, take my words with a grain of salt. Lol.

I used it to make banana bread, and it worked amazingly well!!

Bought this due to my allergies to brown sugar. It tastes similar but has a gross sandy aftertaste. I used it for a sauce and the sauce was grainy. Due to the price and the sandy aftertaste, I won't buy this again.

I bought this for my herbal tea. It's slightly sweeter than sugar so you should adjust accordingly. It has a faint caramel flavor to it.

Great healthier alternative to refined sugar. I have found this is my favorite sugar substitute for baking. Unlike other reviewers, I actually use this as a more nutrient rich alternative to white/cane sugar (I use coconut palm sugar in place of brown). Yes, my cookies, cakes and sweet breads do turn out a little deeper in color than normal, but the taste and texture are wonderful. Even my husband who is the world's biggest treat-snob, loves the treats I make with date and coconut sugar. Xylitol, stevia, agave... nope! But this stuff gets two-thumbs up, even from my toughest critic!

I wasn't prepared for the size. 8 little ounces for over 10 bucks. Not the greatest deal.

Nothing wrong with the brand. Just be aware that this is not a dissolvable sugar, it cannot be used in hot drinks and I don't find it very sweet at all in baking. I will not be buying it again

Fast delivery considering it came from America and reasonable price. Not as sweet as ordinary sugar so more is needed. Has a subtle taste and doesn't overpower drinks or cakes etc
