Is this the same stuff that was installed originally or upgraded proven parts? i dont want to do this again!

I'm worried about this also but I'm pretty positive, especially after so long after the update, I don't even think any of the distributors are allowed to sell the old outdated parts. When Ford updated them I'm pretty sure they recalled all the old parts and aren't supposed to be sold anymore. So the only parts you can buy are the new updated ones. I could be wrong but I haven't ever seen any of the old style parts being sold by Ford or it's distributors unless it was fake.

Is all the parts in this kit genuine Ford OEM parts?

Only buy Ford OEM phasers. Do not buy any brand of aftermarket phasers. You will drop 700 and some dollars on the crap aftermarket phasers and then shortly afterwards you'll drop a minimum 1700 dollars to get Ford OEM phasers

What are the tensioners made of? Iron or plastic?

They are made of a plastic frame with steel inserts for bolt holes and steel tensioner piston and cylinder
