Oilsky 128GB MP3 Player with Bluetooth and WiFi

I went from 18 disc CD changer, creative Labs nomad, creative labs zen with built in speaker, iPhone 10 Max and 14 Max. MP3s have certainly come a long way and this had the most storage built in with a speaker and good battery life. I right away bought a Samsung 1 TB and installed it, formatted on the player to be used with it transferring all my music and movies was sweet compared to using iTunes, this device beats everything else especially for the price. The camera works nicely, radio works with the headphones, and you can use the speaker while using the headphones as the antenna, but the reception is not as good for some reason. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work as expected perfectly. I installed VLC player for the movies, don't have to deal with the ads in the other app. Once you have the micro SD card installed you will not need to remove it you transfer everything through the player connected to the PC. After formatting that microSD card through the player the PC will not be able to see it outside the player, which doesn't matter because you just leave it inside the player and it works just fine. I also installed radio garden which is a decent way to listen to music anywhere in the world. This player allows you to play music the way you like to play it.

Why buy an mp3 player? Some uses: 1) Use an mp3 player to play music, videos, ebooks, etc so you don’t use your phone battery. 2) Use an mp3 player with its speaker or with a Bluetooth speaker while using your phone for other purposes. 3) Use an mp3 player when outdoors so you don’t risk your phone being lost, damaged or stolen. I would not suggest this (M502) type of mp3 player for running, workouts, yard work, physical activity bec it’s large, heavy (weighs as much as a smartphone of same size) and the large screen can be damaged. For outdoor use or physical activity, I suggest a clip-on mp3 player bec they are very small and light. See photo that compares the size of this M502 device and the size of a clip-on player. Case: See photo. The included case for the M502 player is a clear plastic case to cover the back of the device which is slippery metal so I suggest using the plastic case so it won’t slip out of your hands. I’m worried about the screen getting scratched or broken. I did not find a case or wallet to cover the front. The device arrives with a removable clear plastic film affixed to the screen. I suggest leaving that film in place to protect the screen. A second clear plastic film is included as a backup in case the first plastic film is scratched. See photo. I bought a case on Amazon listed as: Compatible with Oilsky MP3 Player. The naked M502 fits easily in the case but with the plastic back cover on the M502, it’s a tight fit in the case but still the case can be zipped up without any stretching of the zipper. The case is semi-rigid, 1.75” thick, 6.5” L x 4.5 “ W so it is pretty large, won’t fit in your pocket. M502 Pros: I played the same song on this M502 player and on my 2024 smartphone. The music quality is very good on both devices and sounds exactly the same. Sound quality depends on both the device and the quality, power of the headphones / earbuds. I like these earbuds listed on Amazon as: MORMOQUE EP-06 Wired Earbuds in-Ear Earphones, Build-in Microphone. I’ve used these earbuds for 2 years. Sound quality is excellent – best I’ve ever heard on any earbuds or headphones. The M502 has a very clean, sleek, modern appearance, looks and works like a smaller basic smartphone Many features, easy to figure out Volume rocker switch increases and decreases the volume in very small increments .. nice! Somewhat heavy, seems to be high quality Very good sound quality and volume from the speaker 128GB is massive – I’ve downloaded 500 songs = 4.71GB Seems to have long battery life especially if you only use it a few hours a day. Settings > Display > enable Dark theme – beautiful sharp display, not bright, easy to read Settings > Display > Brightness level – I set it to 20% so it’s not too bright at night in bed Easily and quickly transferred music albums (mp3 files) from my laptop to this M502 player In Settings, you can tap Factory Reset which deletes all files and apps you installed It arrives in a very nice box, suitable as a gift. Settings > Auto Shutdown > you can select: 5, 10, 20, 30 or 60 mins. After music stops playing, the device will shut off after 5, 10, 20 mins, whatever time you select. This is a great feature so you can play music or meditation when you go to bed and device will shut off __ mins after the music ends to save battery use. The auto shutdown selection I made is saved after device shut down. M502 Cons: 4 stars bec it’s a great device but has some software issues 1) Major Con for me: When I play a Youtube music video, then open another app, the Youtube video music stops so I cannot listen to Youtube music and do something else on the device. 2) Some changes I made in Settings are saved after device shutdown. Some changes I made in Settings, like enabling Auto-rotate, revert back to factory settings after device shutdown. 3) With Wifi on, I went to Settings > System Updates > Confirm. Then it showed an error message: Failed to obtain update. So I am unable to get system updates or maybe no updates were available at that moment. 4) The user manual is only 3 pgs and only explains basic functions, no explanation about the software or how to use any of the apps. See more recent user reviews to see if the issues above have been resolved. Note: To turn on the device, press and hold the on/off button for 4 seconds on the right side > nothing will happen, dark screen for 5 seconds (I wondered if it turned on) > then the Oilsky name appears > then 30 seconds to boot up. Note: Each one of the included music player apps requires you to tap “I agree to terms” which probably allows the apps a lot of access to your info on the device. You may want to search for a music app that is privacy oriented. === Conclusion: This M502 player works really well, solid quality, 4 stars bec of the software issues. If you need Internet access for apps, web browsing, reading ebooks, I recommend the M502. If you want an mp3 player while active outdoors or just walking around outside or doing housework, I suggest a small light weight clip-on mp3 player. I would keep this M502 player if I needed the Internet, apps, etc. But I’m returning it bec I now realize I only need a clip-on mp3 player to take outside. At my desk and in bed at night, I will use my smartphone or laptop to play music.

I've had this a few months, its a very good digital music player, lots of power, great sound. I recommend it.
