Jim Morrison was the original Dark Knight. Some say his work was clumsy, self-indulgent & downright embarrasing - 'Ode To My Cock' is a prime example. But he was also capable of work so thought proking, it was beautiful. This is an excellent collection, containing as it does various pieces - poems, lyrics & the screenplay to 'The Hitchhiker'. His output was phenominal & the anger he felt is only too apparent in places. Would he have exorcised his demons had he survived Paris or would he have finally become the tired & bloated waste he threatened to become? We will never know. Personally, I will remember the genius, the inspiration and the fact that for a short, brief time, the world was a better place because of what he & the Doors achieved. Long may he reign.

I've always liked Jim's Poetry, I'm no expert but he does have a way of conjuring different pictures in your head with some beautiful imagery. With this book, okay I have seen and heard probably about half, either through Doors lyrics or the American Prayer, but hey it's good to see some of these poems extended. The Paris stuff is pretty good and pretty dark. So I think if you're a fan of Jim's buy it, if you love the Doors buy it, if you love poetry that's a bit different then you should buy it. I loved it.

A sublime book of poetry whether you like The Doors or not. James Douglas Morrison is a true American poet and deserves all the kudos that that entails. Morrison's poems are a reflection of the era in which he lived and his philosophy upon life that was unquestionably ahead of his time.

American Night is my favourite of Jim's poetry books. If you're a fan of Morrison the poet then get this book. It's not miles better than Wilderness, I just remember thinking when I read them back to back. That's great too.

Great book interesting poetry

I thought the book was great and it really gives you an insight of Jim's mind, however, I feel like it would be better if I was stoned or drunk. Either way, I liked.

Lovely book to have by your side on a mellow evening, with Jimbo's music playing on loop. I love how they have included bits of the original manuscript, and published the whole thing, mistakes and all.
