This knife has great action. The top liner lock is super smooth and the blade is heavy enough that it swings open and shut really nicely. Like all Kizer knives in the sheepdog family, the ergonomics are great. This 2.9” version is big enough that you can chock up on your grip and use that finger choil (unlike the mini) but still small enough to feel compact and small enough for EDC. And the icing on the cake has to be how sharp that Nitro-V blade gets. It is easy to sharpen and takes an edge extremely well. Just watch the video.

Solid little EDC. The linear lock can also aid in deploying the blade faster. I have large hands, making use of the thumb hole to open a bit difficult. If you depress the lock button and flick your wrist the blade swings onto position. The button needs to be released prior to the blade being fully open or it won't lock and "bounce" back to at least partially closed. Takes some practice to get the timing correct. My suggestion is to practice alone. And do NOT do this in a downward motion. It is always possible the knife can slip out of your hand. I love everything about the knife, except that it looks like it was either not quality controlled correctly, or had been returned to Amazon and shipped to me when I ordered mine. There is a tiny ding in the scale on the opposite side of the pocket clip and a tiny knick in the blade. Not worth returning I can live with it, but somethings seems sketchy.

Absolutely impressed with kizer's budget offerings. Action and attention to detail feel like a much more expensive knife. D2 tool steel gets a lot of hate, but with the blackwash coating, you'll likely never see rust which is the main weakness of D2. As long as you treat it well, with routine cleaning and oiling, this is a tool that should last you your lifetime. A bargain for first time knife owners and long time enthusiasts. Equally useful as a tool and stylish enough to be carried with confidence.

I have 2 sheepdogs, the classic blade style and this blade style. I find myself carrying this version more (but i do like the other version too). This one checks off my personal boxes, solid build, good blade and action, no hot spots on the hand with extended use.

I have it 3 stars due to the low price. This is a great example of getting what you for. The blade is a bit better than a gas station knife but the finish looks cheap. It has fairly strong lock up but still looks and feels like a cheap Chinese knife. I had high expectation because of the praise given on YouTube reviews. I recently purchased a Civivi and its overall quality was much better than this Kizer. If you want a cheap knife to abuse this will work but I would not buy another.

This knife is a masterpiece and the best sheepdog yet. Its a tad small for 2xl hands but if you adjust to it you can open it any way. Thumb flick, reverse flick, spidey flick. Its all 10/10
