Die Frau hat Power, war mein erster Eindruck, als ich vor mehr als dreißig Jahren Hilde Domin zum ersten Mal bei einer Lesung und einem Glas Wein danach begegnete. Ein quirliges Wesen in den Sechzigern, eine faszinierende Mischung zwischen mädchenhaftem Irrwisch und souveräner Dame. Ein Eindruck, der sich im Verlauf der Jahrzehnte mit jedem Treffen festigte, wobei sich eine Eigenschaft immer stärker ausprägte: Hildes Domins Souveränität. Man muss sie erlebt haben, wie sie einen Kellner dazu bringen konnte, draußen – obwohl nur drinnen gedeckt war – zu servieren und zwar Frühstück, obwohl schon alles abgeräumt war.
