Easy to replace our old one with new one. Works very well

I’ve been through a couple of these flimsy plastic screen door handles. This one actually seems like it will last. The screw holes were in the same place as the previous handle so I didn’t need to drill new holes. I also left the 2 catches from the old handle in place (why do more than you have to?). It took just minutes to install. With this being made from metal I don’t worry about the plastic becoming brittle in the blazing hot AZ summers. That said, the replacement catches, one on the door frame and one on the main door, are made from plastic, but of stouter material. But what breaks on my handles is the little “thumb nail” that keeps the screen door closed. Well, the first 1 broke because I was a little overzealous tightening the screw. But the last one wasn’t catching the door jamb catch because the “thumb nail” became brittle and broke. Both instances the handles were just a couple summers old but the heat, presumably, weakened the plastic. At any rate this metal handle should be better, but time will tell.

It just feels more durable and solid than stock being metal, I doubt it will suffer from the eventual degradation of whatever kind of plastic is typically used (which seems to oxidize or UV degrade or something..where the plastic becomes brittle) While this was sent to me for review, I take that job seriously. Getting people the wrong product is wasteful, irresponsible and a hassle for everyone.Not everything I review gets high marks -- BTW, I live in a high sales tax state, review items aren't exactly at-no-cost for me]

My original door latch was a hard plastic for my screen and after several years, it chipped where the latch catches so the screen door didn't stay shut well anymore. This latch is much higher quality than the original equipment and very lightweight. I don't have to worry about it breaking or chipping and it was a perfect fit for a direct fit on my 2009 Fun Runner. Definitely recommend.
