Because is was so pretty and you can tell that it is well made (heavy and it sparkles-deep cuts for design) I was going to keep it no matter what. If you read details about this product, they said that it was highly returned. That's because you do not know how small it really is. Use your ruler. It also said deep-nope. So here is what I did-I used it as a candle holder in my bathroom that I was updating. I had an oversized 6" candle-fit perfect, showed off all the detail work. I then used the little dip bowl to place rings in. Please realize that the workmanship is outstanding.

**Q: Is the center bowl attached to the plate?**
A: No the center dipping bowl is separate.  My daughter bought this for me for Christmas. Been looking for years for this low bowl style and size. I liked the size so much for small groups I ordered another one for both fruits and veggies.  Absolutely love it and makes a beautiful table setting.

**Q: How big is the center flat portion?**
A: About six inches in diameter. Please be aware, though, that it is not completely flat. It has a slightly raised circle in the middle to keep the dip cup in place.

**Q: Is it able to be used in microwave?**
A: I would not put Crystal in the microwave

**Q: How deep is the chip bowl?**
A: About one and a half inches

I love this dish so much! I didn’t realize that it was 2 separate pieces, and I am so happy about it! It makes this little dish so perfect and versatile. It is quite small as other reviews have said but it will get a lot of use in my house.
