OK beginner paddle
This paddle is Gearbox's entry level paddle and it shows. Kinda strange that they made a beginner's paddle 12mm though cause that's really thin and I would prefer beginners start with a thicker paddle, like the more usual 16mm. The overall dimensions is the standard shape which is fine but the feel is very stiff. Almost like you're playing with an old wood paddle. The sweet spot is also kind of small but that's normal with most Gearbox paddles. Even with added weight around the 4 & 8 positions it still feels a bit jarring to play with. And the handle is also thinner than usual, again, like most Gearbox paddles. Spin was ok, didn't have too much problem with that and it's got ok pop at the kitchen. And overall it's quite light and easily maneuverable. So for beginners just picking up the game it should be fine but there's a lot better options out there these days.

definitely a beginner paddle but no value
The paddle is definitely for beginners. It is very light and easy to hold and swing. However, if you want to get better and more value for your buck, then this isn't the one. The paddle face is very smooth with little or no grit so its hard to produce the spin. It does hit pretty hard but you have to generate the power. The paddle vibrates a lot when you try to block hard drives. You don't have to worry about these things when you play very casual beginner games but once you get a little higher level, you need a paddle that can perform better. I think you can definitely find better paddles than this for the price.
