I was hoping to use this amp as a smaller in-home replacement for my 30-year old solid state 30W Marshall Master Lead Combo. The Marshall sounds eons better. This amp sounds horribly boxy and flat with it's tiny speakers. Adding reverb doesn't improve the tone. It just sounds like a flat boxy guitar in a larger room or hall. Modulation effects were OK to get a rocktron sort of sound through the clean setting.Modulation with any of the gain models sounded horrid (like a turd covered in shoe polish). Also, the multi-FX and delay/reverb are on continuous knobs, and just as you are getting close to a useable sound, the effects change to something totally different. Very difficult to lock into a good combination of reverb/delay and or chorus/flange/trem….Surprising limited clean headroom through the clean channel. EQ knobs are strange and don't work like an ordinary tone stack. Having all three EQ knobs turned down results in zero volume output. The impact of the EQ was really extreme and it was very difficult to dial in a usable tone. I had to back the treble and mids way down to compensate for the small drivers and it was still only effective to a point.All the gain models sucked, although surprisingly I liked the modern voicing the best, with varying levels of gain applied. Crunch and lead voicings were totally uninspiring. Brit Hi was second best after modern, but really, all the gain models had a phony fizz that made them sound smallish.Can you practice through this thing? Yeah... I guess. But it's really not much fun. I think there's no getting around the lack of a decent sized driver. I question the taste of anyone who recommends one of these. And by the way... they're not really that cheap... $300 for a 10W solid state amp. Much better options elsewhere. As a 30+ year player, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. (FWIW, I normally play Bogner Shiva, hand-wired Plexi, and a Fender Tremolux… I do know good tone). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect small low-volume amp *by C***E on Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2018* I play clean/blues mostly, I also want to use pedals. My previous amp was a solid state 2x10 Princeton Chorus from the 90's, and I actually loved the depth and clarity of the sound it provided. However it started to crap out and I couldn't find anyone to fix it, so I started to search for a new amp. I researched on reddit, reverb, the various sites.All the advice I got said to look at tube amps, so I did. And I was frankly very unimpressed. I looked at Fenders, Vox, and Orange. Not happy with any of them, and the single speaker seemed to be limiting the depth I was after. So I turned to solid state, and looked at Fenders, Boss, etc. The problem here was size (to get into 2 speakers) and I really didn't need all the bells and whistles. I even bought a Roland JC-22... and returned it. It just didn't have the bass depth I was after.So, I took a chance on the THR10C which seemed on the surface to be what I was after. This amp is perfect for me. It sounds amazingly full and deep at low volumes, the cleans are great, the effects are decent, it tales my pedals pretty well, it's small, easy to use. I haven't even fiddled with the software it comes with yet. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tube tones at more reasonable volumes. *by S***N on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2017* I picked one of these up as a practice amp for low-volume bedroom noodling and for playing when I travel, and I have to say I'm impressed. It very well replicates the warmth and natural dynamic range of a tube amp. I'm particularly impressed with how well it cleans up when lowering the volume on my guitar. I mostly play it with my strat, although I have given it a try with my SG, and it sounds very good with both guitars. I opted for the "C" model, as I mostly play blues and classic rock, and although all of the channels have something to offer, I usually stick to the "mini" channel. I find that it has enough gain when cranked to scratch my AC/DC itch, but when the gain is turned down to about halfway, it yields a fantastic dirty blues tone with the neck pickup on my strat.The reason I took a star off is that there is no ability to change the channels. Lots of other modeling amps let you re-map each of the channels and create your own patches (boss's two larger katana amps, the 50 and the 100, both have this functionality, although the mini doesn't). I think not implementing a feature like this on such a great modeling amp was a missed opportunity, but it certainly isn't a dealbreaker.
