Can I install this if my boiler is a combi, and does not already have a thermostat? And will it control the water too?

Hi - you can, simply get a Smart Thermostat Starter Kit as well as the Extension Kit. Please contact us on support@tado.com with the make and model of your boiler so that we can check which interface is available and therefore which functions would be supported - hot water control on a combi boiler is usually only possible over the digital interface.

My existing 'stat is powered by l & n wires. can i use these with the wired stat instead of batteries? how stable is this as it'll be 1k miles away!

Your stat most likely isn’t powered by that wire, that will be the signal cable to turn the heating on. Yes it will work, if it doesn’t they have a very good support system and you can always return it if it doesn’t. I’ve had no issues whatsoever with mine, never needed physical attention.

Are these thread compatible yet?

I don't think they are thread certified yet. If and when they do, I'm sure you'll see Tado advertise the same in bold everywhere. :) Nonetheless, good devices which I am quite satisfied with.

When the heating is not on will the pump stop.
