The setup was easy. Four of the sockets use the backup power, the other four don't. So I hooked up just the necessary things for backup: My PC, monitor, and router. Then I pulled the plug out of the wall. There was no interruption whatsoever - everything just kept running. It said I had 26 minutes of battery time. So I'll break that down, because so many people want a time estimate. I bought the 600va/360w version.My PC was built to be low power consumption. I estimate it consumes 150w, maximum, and much less when idle. The monitor is a medium-sized 1080p monitor. I am guessing it takes 30w. That's a blind guess. The modem, maybe 15w. So that's less than 200w, and I get 26 minutes running time. Your desktop PC probably uses a bit more power. I'm on a circuit that blows frequently, so I only need a short time while the circuit is reset. So if you're only supporting a router/modem, it should last a very long time. It is apparent to me that many of the unhappy reviewers are need a commercial-grade solution and are expecting much more power and features than this simple, inexpensive UPS has. The unit is rated at 360w. As you approach that maximum, efficiency will drop and your run time will be greatly reduced. Keep it to 200w or less, if you want good efficiency.Don't try putting a 'fridge or a microwave on this little guy. It isn't made for that. A normal laptop might get a few hours out of this. Most desktop PC's use more power than mine does, especially a fancy gaming rig or software engineer's station. If you have a mighty computer, you won't get much more than time to shut it down gracefully. A more modest computer might last 15 minutes or more. Please keep in mind these are my amateur estimates.There is software. Check under the product info on the Amazon page. I forget which tab it is under, but there's a link. Plug the supplied cable into your computer to configure the unit. Install software. It will ask for a username and password. Both are "admin" until/unless you change them. You don't have to use the software. It just lets you tinker with settings and see the battery time and load. Handy for experimenting with different loads.No complaints, it's doing just what I hoped it would do. Hope this review is helpful to some.

You know I kinda hate to admit this but the infrastructure in my area is in decline. The power goes out more than ever and we are literally so connected now that many times a a day I think I would rather have internet than water!With this and as we get older we have decided to have a generator installed at our house. Last summer our electricity went out in June. Louisiana heat in June is no joke. Pushing 60 is also no joke. Pushing 60 with 104 heat index may make you not see 61.My wife and I fled to another city. My sister and her husband stayed in their home.... for three days with no electric. It's one of those things. You always feel like it'll come back on in another hour... or by dark, by midnight... first thing in the morning.By the time three days went by my poor sister would have been in tears but she was so dehydrated she couldn't cry. (yes she could have come to Dallas with us but they declined) Everyone affected had every bit of perishable food ruined. So after days with no electric... once it comes on the grocery stores also had no power... then it took a few days after power for them to get deliveries and then the stores were gutted for a solid week. The whole ordeal from power outage to power on to throwing out food to purchasing new food to back to normal was no kidding two weeks. It was awful and I wasn't even here. We fled. We are very fortunate to have another home in another state. All our food was ruined but we purchased food locally at our other home in Texas and just brought it back in coolers.I say all that to say this. I purchased three of these Amazon UPS systems for our home. We are having a whole home generator installed. These power our modem our router and three of our Amazon EERO modules throughout our home.In the past as soon as the power goes out it's internet out.Now with these installed the power to those items goes through the battery. When the power goes out the things plugged in continue to work until the battery dies. I tested this. I have ATT fiber internet. I use Amazon EERO (which are amazing by the way) for my router with three additional modules for mesh coverage. My testing concluded that with just these items on the battery the Amazon UPS will give you about 1:45 before the battery dies and you now have no internet. It takes our new generator about 1 minute to sense a power outage, start and then put power back to the house. In this case our internet will never go down. In the past even with a split second surge it would take about 5 minutes for everything to come back online. These eliminate that.These are a very inexpensive way to give you a moment to close out what your working on and properly shut down whatever is plugged into it. Simple plug and play install. I highly recommend.

I bought the Amazon Basics UPS Battery Backup and Surge Protector, 600VA/360W, and so far it has been working great. It feels solid, is compact, and gives me extra peace of mind for keeping my electronics protected during power outages or short power flickers.I also have another one of these units, and so far so good with that one as well. I have even simulated power outages to test it, and everything worked great. Setup was simple, the outlets are useful, and it does exactly what I needed it to do.Overall, I am happy with this purchase. If anything fails or I run into any problems later, I will come back and update this review.

A friend of mine recently moved into an apartment and promptly equipped it with both Canary and Arlo equipment. She came home one day to find that the maintenance staff had switched out her refrigerator, but she hadn't gotten any notifications. We were able to determine that the staff had cut power to the unit before entering. She asked if there was anything that could be done to keep her security surveillance going, and I suggested a small UPS. However, in my circle of people, I can't make a suggestion like that without then being asked to make a specific selection. After a cursory search, I settled on the AmazonBasics Standby UPS 600VA 360W UPS.Amazon has a self-branded UPS? Of course they do. I couldn't tell you who makes it for them, but it looks to be about the same as any low-end CyberPower or APC unit. The unit is part UPS, and part power strip. It looks like a power strip with a thyroid problem... the housing is chunky, but what do you expect when you need an SLA battery for power? Even though there's a smaller (400VA) unit, I decided to overbuy on capacity, since the incremental price premium was so small. All that's plugged into the UPS outlets are the AT&T combo DSL modem/router/wifi AP, and Canary. Runtime should be about 90 minutes with those low wattage devices.The configuration software is decent, and should not surprise anyone that's used serial or USB-connected UPSes. I was a little shocked that the unit had PC connectivity at this price point. You can adjust ALMOST everything, with the exception of rundown behavior. As other reviewers have already reported, this unit does not auto restart. I bought this for someone that was wanting to have some insurance against short-term outages, so that's not really a deal breaker for them. If it were for me, I'd want auto-restart for anything that's a critical availability item.So, it's a UPS. At this price point, this is actually a pretty decent unit. No, there's no LCD or LED readout, but you can configure the alarms to give you some progress information. This is not a power conditioner, so don't expect this device to help you through brownouts. The software is a plus, but the lack of auto-restart is possibly a negative. This review should let you know if any of your dealbreakers are present. Conditionally recommended.

Bought this two months ago, power went out this week for over 2 hours, and the entire time we had WiFi because the router and modem were plugged into this. Not sure if it could’ve handled a desktop as well, but it did its job with the WiFi.

I bought this as a backup battery for my home server. I want to protect the hardware and data (30 TB of HDDs) from sudden shutdowns and give myself a chance to shut down Windows properly when the power goes out. Well, this UPS flat out DOES NOT WORK for that. Despite the fact that this computer only pulls ~45 watts when it tries to boot (I measured with a Kill-a-Watt), my computer just will not run when the UPS is on battery. Every power outage, I find the computer is turned off, and is trying over and over to boot back up (fan ramping up) only for it to stop dead and try again. This has happens consistently, with basically nothing else plugged in, at every power outage. The computer will run just fine when the power is on, but the battery is basically useless.

The purpose of acquiring this UPS was twofold; battery based UPS for timely PC shutdown as well as surge protection for the other components in the home entertainment console. This 600va unit satisfies those requirements.Fortunately, I had a little used side cabinet in the console which easily accommodated the UPS.While the unit itself measures about 11x5x3, you would want 14x7x7 of available space to accommodate the AC cable strain relief, power cable routing, and room at the top for the AC plugs.As can be observed, the unit has four UPS outlets and four surge protection outlets. I had no problem with crowding of the various sized AC plugs.I had used a hole saw to drill several holes in the side compartment for cable routing. One way to increase the number of surge protected devices is to employ a power strip that has no built in surge protection.It would appear that CyberPower is the manufacturer of this Amazon Basics unit, as the PC utility is the same as the one that our 2 CyberPower UPS use. That is reassuring for me since those two other UPS units deployed in our home offices have proven to be quite reliable.The aforementioned PC utility suggests that I'll have 20 minutes of power with the normal load of the entertainment center. That is more than enough for most outages which last for only seconds, and I now have improved surge protection for the non UPS components. That gives me plenty of time for an orderly shutdown of the HTPC, and to turn off the TV. There should then be more than an hour of AC power available for the devices which run on a DC power supply, such as the network switch and the FM stereo transmitter.I had followed the recommended procedure of charging the battery before installation. Wouldn't you know it but minutes after the installation was completed, we had a thunderstorm induced 3 second outage and subsequent surge! The UPS worked perfectly.This unit is adequate for the home entertainment center application, or a simple home office with a single PC and monitor to allow the time necessary for an orderly shutdown.If you want more time for continued play with your high powered gaming PC, 4k monitor, and 5.1 channel audio amplifier, I would suggest a minimum of a 1300va UPS to allow you to continue to smash your enemies in an uninterrupted manner, at least for another 30 minutes...

For the price compared to others on the market, I am extremely pleased. I had a backup previously that I paid more for, but once I had a new tv hooked up to it the pull was too much and the tv would still go off. This has kept everything going long enough to at least have a clean shut down.

Bought a couple of these to use at the camp, and a great job they do. We currently use them to provide power to LED lights when the generator is not running. We originally bought them to trial and are very impressed so far.We have used them without a recharge for up to 4 days for lighting up the living area and bedrooms. No issues so far. The wife gets mad when the generator runs out of gas and shuts down part way through a movie, this will power her laptop, 150w sound bar and a 40 inch led TV for a limited time. I plan on getting a couple more to power additional devises as I hate the sound of the generator running. These allow me to run the generator long enough to make ice, recharge them and then shut it down.We plan on taking them home in the future to use for the same purpose as at the camp during winter power outages.Definitely would recommend this product. - Be smart and buy bigger (more power by the hour) then your needs require. They are more practical for me then an out priced solar system.

I bought this product to replace a similar CyberPower unit. It came as expected and works as expected.It was a few dollars cheaper than the name brand units on Amazon. I’ve bought Amazon basics items before and they have always performed to my satisfaction.The only drawback was I could NOT find the management software for the unit on Amazon.ca or on Amazon.com. That, to say the least, was very frustrating. I even searched some forums and followed the many suggestions. Nope, couldn’t be found.I then Googled “who makes Amazon Basics UPS”. It turns out CyberPower does! I already had the software on my PC. Fired it up and “BAM”, it found the new unit. Problem solved.It already has regulated a surge in power saving possible damage to my computer.Very satisfied!

I needed a small UPS to power a mini-ITX Windows computer that is currently being utilized as a file and media backup server as well as a movie-music repository for network access.Since this computer uses very little power, a 400VA (250W) UPS would have been sufficient. However, during the most recent Amazon sale, the 600VA model (360W) came very close in price so I decided to get the larger unit.I do not need a lot of functionality. Basic surge protection, a graceful shutdown of the connected device after an extended power interruption and a small footprint were all I needed.I only have 1 device connected to this UPS so all the other outlets are unutilized.In the Amazon product page description there is no real mention of the software needed for the UPS. However, if you scroll down near the bottom of the page (for both Amazon Canada and Amazon.com), the user guide PDF will give you a link and name of the software needed. Unfortunately, this downloads the PowerMaster 1.0.5 plus software. There is a newer version of this available from their website 1.2.2. This software works but I personally do not like the interface.You may also be able to find the link the downloads the file AB_Windows_UPS_Software._CB1578056260. This is a customized Power Panel Personal Edition (ver 1.4.3) which shows the Amazon Basics logo. This has the most basic functionality but max runtime (to preserve battery power) is limited to 5 minutes.If you want the better version, you can download the Cyberpower Power Panel Personal (2.6.0) from their website. This software recognizes this UPS as an ABST600 rated for 360Watts. Since my runtime with this UPS is anywhere from 70-80 minutes, I am able to select a maximum of 20 minutes before the UPS sends the shutdown signal to the computer. I have it currently set at 10-15 minutes.See screenshotsThe 400VA model doesn't seem to have a USB connector for PC shutdown control. This functionality seems to be limited to the 600VA, 800VA and larger capacity UPS. The USB cable is included.

It is very easy to install and use, but this UPS management software is a headache. After searching for a long time, it turned out that it was not found on amazon.ca. You must go to the amazon.com website to find and download it. But it is easy to install and has all the infomation you want to know. I connected a desktop computer and a monitor, as well as a network hub and a phone and POS machine. After a power failure, it can last for 58 minutes. I only use like 20% of its load.

This AmazonBasics UPS appears to be manufactured by CyberPower, which means it works well with Network UPS Tools (NUT) on Linux. I had no trouble installing it and getting it set up.I'm using the UPS to power a Raspberry Pi running OctoPrint and a 3D printer. I don't expect the small battery to last long if I'm in the middle of a print when there's a power outage. The more important thing is to prevent the Raspberry Pi from shutting down unexpectedly, as that can corrupt its MicroSD memory card.The UPS feels well-built and compact, while providing a decent amount of space between outlets. My only criticism is that UPS-protected outlets are on the very edge of the case, so if you have big AC adapters they'll hang off of the side.Overall, I'm very pleased with this UPS. I've had good experience with CyberPowers, and this should hold up just as well.
