## Description

Review: An excellent book - I’ve seen it compared to the hunger games but it is not like that, it’s much more brutal and hopeless. Usually I can get a book out of head pretty quickly even if it’s particularly a difficult one. But this one gave me late night anxiety, why do I feel helpless when I think about this. Is it the realisation that any kind of change is slow? That it requires lot more sacrifices than it’s fair? How do you know how much is a fair sacrifice? And how do you calculate the price? Why is it so gut clenchingly painful read about stuff that women actually go through in one way or the other? I seem to have lot of questions and no answers, i guess that what kept me awake at 3 am. The voice inside me is so loud I couldn’t sleep, so i start to write this knowing that it’s gonna be an angst filled confrontational monologue. As long as I’m asking questions, Why is it not realistic to want change sooner? To all the women who carry a red wild flower in their hearts . Quote : “my eyes are wide open and I see everything”
Review: Dystopia fiction, Young Adult - "Sometimes I wonder if I’m so accustomed to struggling that anything else feels foreign to me, like something I’m not supposed to feel, but here we are." In Garner County, women are treated as products/properties rather than a human being. They're pressed into submission under the feet of the men. The only purpose the women serve is to satisfy the men's needs and give them a male offspring. Amongst them lives Tierney James, who is going to be the much needed beacon of change. You might have guessed by now, that the book focuses on oppression of women . But I want to highlight that though men have been the instigators to this inequality, but it's the women who keep on oiling the lamp. Women have been pitted against each other forever and have come to believe that's how things are supposed to be. But Tierney brings a change. She teaches the girls about sisterhood. She shows them that their real strength lies in being there and standing up for each other. The Grace Year was one of the most tear-jerking and heart-wrenching book that I've read this year. It was perfect in all sense. With the right amount of depth, the perfect suspenseful beginning and the beautiful climax. I cannot recommend this book enough. Add this to your TBR if it isn't already there and started reading.
