Likewise, do not use standard crimpers (like lineman's pliers with crimp spot) on un-seamed crimps and sleeves as you will not have a consistent even pressure connection--especially with multiple wires! How do you know how far to squeeze it?** A: you dont want to squeeze it all the way. you want to squeeze it until you feel resistance that the wires will not move. you can damage the wires if you squeeze it too hard. I would suggest practicing a little bit because its difficult to express the kind of pressure you should put on it. Id say squeeze it a bit more after you feel the initial resistance of the wire if that makes sense. **Q: does it work with buchanan splice cap** A: Yes. The "splice cap" is actually the copper sleeve that gets crimped to the wires. The buchanan crimp tool is used to crimp the 2006S and 2008S crimp sleeves (note that buchanan calls these splice caps) in position "A". The 2007 splice cap insulator (this may be what you think is the splice cap) is used for these two crimp sleeves and just snaps on after the crimp is made. In the position "B" you can use the 2011S crimp sleeves with the 2014 splice cap insulator. You don't actually crimp the insulator cap it is plastic with a fitted metal locking ring and just snaps over the flared end of the the crimp sleeve after the sleeve is crimped. Care should be taken so that the crimp is in the center of the sleeve. This will allow the Splice cap insulators to snap in place and lock correctly. **Q: All right...what size sleeves will it take??? Not some manufacturers numbers but the actual sleeve size.** A: A 21/64" drill bit will pass through the round hole in the locking slide. A 3/8" drill bit will fit between the jaws (like a cap) but not pass through the hole. If you use a sleeve connector be sure you have one end free to pull the wire out of the tool. Great tool. Absolutely love mine and the best most uniform hand crimping tool I've found. **Q: Does anyone know the go / no go specifications for testing this crimp tool?** A: No, I do not. I use it for grounding pigtails with two different sizes of ferrules and different numbers of conductors.
