Good product
Wanted a cast iron pot that wasn't coated in enamel in hope that iron will leech into food to treat low ferritin. Don't know if that is the case but pot works well on hob and in oven. Washes well and I just give it an oiling every now and then. Heavy and good heat distribution. Lid is a good fit. Plenty of room for cooking large portions/feeding a large family. Looks good.

Great value, well made and recommended
Really well made, solid, perfect size. Supplied with clear care instructions (read them, worth it to look after your oven). Used to bake a loaf in, have to say it is the BEST cook so far - far better even than the expensive enameled version we have. Great value, recommend this. Will be looking to add with a larger one.

Perfect Crispy Fry
I never liked fried items unless they were dipped in a generous amount of oil or fried in a cast iron wok (karai). It’s a lifesaver. With the lid on, the cooking takes less time and turns out perfectly. The only drawbacks are that the Amazon seal is embossed on the bottom, and I’ve only used it on a gas stove, so I’m not sure how it would work on an induction cooktop. Another point: you need to take extra care after washing, like applying a thin layer of oil. Otherwise, it looks very matte and shows signs of developing rust.

My perfect rice cooker!
I received this today. Having bought a Lodge Dutch Oven for bread making and general use I'm already used to cooking with seasoned cast iron and looking after it. This Amazon Basics 1.9 litre pot is just what I needed. It is pre-seasoned but as it's new I gave it a soapy wash, dried it and then rubbed a little ghee into it and seasoned it again in the oven at 235 C for an hour. I cooked Basmati rice in it this evening: fried the washed, soaked, drained rice in a little ghee and then cooked it by the absorption method with 1½ times volume of water as rice, a little salt, brought to boil then simmered at lowest heat with lid on. I got very nicely cooked rice, very evenly cooked with the grains well separated and no stickiness. And this on a rather terrible electric hob. Cleaning the pot was so easy, just a quick soapy wipe, dry it and rub a little oil in. The pot seems really well made. No chips, no cracks, no places where the metal is thin. The lid is great, nice and heavy, snug fit. You'll see some reviews by people who find their pot rusted. This is not a fault of the product, it's that they have not known how to use and look after cast iron cookware. It is not like aluminium, steel or copper or teflon coated. It is much better than those but you must do the basics: wash it after use, dry it and add a little oil/fat/butter/ghee - rub it in with a paper towel. The non-stick effect gets better and better. Washing up gets easier and easier. Cooking gets easier too when you can rely on a non-stick surface even at very high temperatures. I'm very pleased with this pot. edit: 10 weeks after purchase. I like this item very much. Its base is 100% flat and even so it heats up incredibly quickly on induction and responds to temperature/power changes instantly. I've now also used it as a small Dutch Oven bread baker and it's great. I had to adjust my recipe and use a smaller banneton but it's worth it for some purposes to get a loaf which is as tall as it is wide. It worked great, equally well as my larger Lodge Dutch Oven. I regularly do wicked things like make highly acidic tomato and red pepper sauces in this pot. It's fine. Just give it the usual maintenance of a slightly soapy wash and a good dry and then rub oil into it. I wish Amazon Basics offered a wider variety of sizes of pots just like this. If they made a 2.5 litre I'd buy one. Probably two. Edit: I added a photo. If you get your dough down to 700g it is just the right size to use this small Amazon Basics pot as a Dutch Oven for bread making. I instructed ChatGPT to use the baker's formula to resize my recipe and it worked a treat. It's nice to bake in a pot which is taller than it is wide so you can get a rounder, taller, less flat loaf.

Very unhappy
Dear customer service team I'm writing to rise a formal complaint regarding a cast iron pot o recently purchased from amazon the products was advertised as pre seasoned and I followed all the instructions provided. After cooking in it, I washed and dried it throughly as directed. Despite this the next day the pot had developed rust all over its surfaces. This indicates that the product is either not preseasoned or is of poor quality. As the item is not fit for the purpose I'm requesting a full refund. I look forward for your prompt response and resolution of this matter.

Cast iron pot
Was sceptical in buying this as reviews were mixed but this was perfect for me to make my leg of lamb inside. A good size and I followed the clean up instructions and it has worked perfectly. Hoping it lasts me a while.

Outstanding value for money.
Any cast iron product claiming to be "pre-seasoned" is not seasoned enough, and the instructions that come with the pot prove this. This is probably why some reviews mark it down for rusting or non-stick. It's an excellently cast pot and lid, no flash or other manufacturing blemishes. I seasoned it four times (easy to do) and it's first use was making a hotpot tonight. There was some catching from the food on the sides of the pot but it was easily removed using hot water and a sponge scourer (non-metal). Certainly easier to clean than stainless or non-stick pots I've owned. Don't use detergent, it will ruin the seasoning. Dry it properly, wipe it with another very thin layer of oil as if you were seasoning it again and store it ready for next time. This will last me a lifetime and for something costing a tenth of the price of "big brands" is an absolute bargain.

Consigliatissima!
