As of mid 2020, the stel10000400 unit is a good buy for 10TB. Internally, diagnostics say it has a Barracuda Pro drive with 7 platters, and CMR based recording. This prevents those SMR issues you see with smaller units that use Archive/Barracuda drives. Though the fact of having so many spinning platters makes for hotter operation. The retail box came with power adapters for us/eu/uk/India, which is a nice touch.

TIP: Buy from 'Appario Retail Private Ltd' they ask for a reasonable price. 10 TB ('terabyte in decimal' NOT 'tebibyte in Binary') in Decimal Bit-unit so about 9,300 GB('gibibyte in Binary' NOT 'gigabyte in decimal') in Binary Bits. Difference: 1 TB(terabyte) = 1000 GB(gigabyte) {in decimal} 1 TB(tebibyte) = 1024 GB(gibibyte) {in Binary} Therefore, 1 TB(terabyte in decimal) = 931 GB(gibibyte in Binary) approx. That's why when we buy microSD Card it shows less in mobile device than what was branded for. Manufacturers use/brand in 'decimal' where as we all know digital computers are 'binary' at their core. Awesome for data storage...I bought 10 Tb..drive speed, look, finishing is very much good...I am totally satisfied with product...I recommend everyone to buy this without any doubts.

Beware don't buy this hard drive, this is utter garbage hard drive, from the first the day it came I plugged it into my laptop it was making weird clicking and clattering noise even when it was not reading or writing and then comes surprise when i started copying data on this drive which was a nightmare i was merely getting 50mbps over usb3.0 and when i tried copying my 2tb data on it from my passport drive it was copying at 20mbps showing 3 days to complete and all the time it was clicking and clattering as if it was going to fail any minute, this all this is because SEAGATE HAS USED AN ARCHIVE HDD IN THIS BACKUP PLUS WHICH USES SMR TECHNOLOGY PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRIVE

Current prices is not worth per TB. I had purchased this during sale.If you have more than 8TB or close 8TB worth of data, It's always better to buy 10 TB so that you don't have to split your data in multiple drives. This is a standard product . I had good experience with Seagate HDD in the past. The read and write speeds is more than 100MBps when both the destination and source are using USB 3.0 ofcourse.

look is elegant .performance is awesome. getting heated while in operation though not exceeding the limit(65)

As compared to 8tb pricing is on higher side but it has 7200 rpm hdd for beeter data transfer

Ho acquistato questo disco per utilizzare su pc locale alcuni database Microsoft sql Server. I database sono stati ripristinati sul disco direttamente connesso su porta USB di una Appliance Arcserve UDP 8300 a velocità molto vicina alla nominale massima dichiarata. Ottimo funzionamento anche su P.C. locale connettendo i db con client SQL Server Management Studio 2017. Il disco in se e per se è un Segate Barracuda pro da 3.5 inches e funziona correttamente con ottime prestazioni. Una delle unità da 4 GB che posseggo si è guastata ed all'accensione non si avviava connettendola alla porta USB del computer. La ho smontata ed ho trovato che Il guasto riguardava la scheda elettronica con funzionalità di cache, i/o USB e serial ATA ed alimentazione mentre il disco era perfettamente integro e funzionante. Smontato il disco e rimontatolo su un case esterno Salcar funziona perfettamente con le stesse prestazioni di prima e lo utilizzo da oltre un anno sul mio pc desktop con OS Windows 10/11 e Linux. Quindi non mi sembra di avere rilevato problemi di scarsa qualità come da altri clienti ampiamente esposto. Ritengo personalmente che al giorno d'oggi un hd da 10 GB è un componente sicuro anche se destinato al mercato pc / notebook. Certamente non è un prodotto per dispositivi server, storage area network ecc. quindi non si deve fare confusione in questo senso e comunque nel data center della mia organizzazione ho rilevato alcuni guasti anche su unità HD di server, appliances, SAN.

Works as advertised. Bought this and the Seagate 8th backup drive. The power supply of this unit is much bigger and heavier than the 8tb version. I believe the extra weight is to support bigger amp requirement. I attached 2 external hdd , and connect the 10tb to my nas

But not a intensive work hard drive. Very noisy
