Salewa mens Trekking & Hiking Boots, Black, 7

Salewa is a very renowned brand from Italy's mountain boot making region of Tirol (Messner is from there). This is my first hiking boots from them. I have worn several other brands in the past. This boot fits well straight out of the box. The boot looks narrow but my slightly wider foot fitted perfectly. The sole of the boot is from a brand called Pomoca and not Vibram. Pomoca is Salewa's group company. The soles felt very grippy with good traction. But I must admit I have yet to test them on rough mountain trails. I have only walked in them on concrete pavement and asphalt. In Calcutta the boot feels a little warm but that's because they have Goretex lining. I am fine with that slightly warmer feeling. I am used to Goretex lined boots. They are absolutely water proof in rain. It has only half rand in the front but that's fine for the kind of use I will have. These boots are certainly more expensive than the usual brands popular in India. But these are high quality Italian boots (made in Vietnam) with some top features and justify the price. In fact within the Salewa range this is on the cheaper side. I can pass a final judgement only after seeing how long they last. For boots to last long one pre-requisite is one has to wear them regularly. So even if one goes to the mountains once in a while, one must use them regularly even about town.

Most horrible product I ever purchased ! I lost my acknowledgemrnt slip and I was not aware that I can down load it from Amazon orders page. The rotton lather was used in this show just in 4 months this show was not wearable! Wish I have know this when it was in varranty !

I have used this shoe only for one trekking expedition (Audens col expedition). For this 10 days trek, I found the water proofing of this shoe very poor. Although it's fit and grip are good. But even after being a gore-tex shoe, water and even snow did wet the socks and feet ( even after wearing the gaiters). The video shows only one such occasion. But it happened multiple times. My friend also got this shoe just one month back (offline) and his experience was the same as mine.

I bought these thinking I would just use them in dry hot conditions. I wore them “shed” hunting the other day and was completely blown away at how they stayed waterproof as I went through waist deep snow in some drift areas. Very happy with my purchase and love the shoes.

Son botas de senderismo, mas para caminar que para un uso escarpado o rocoso, he visto algun comentario negativo donde el propietario le daba un uso en terrenos complicados, y para esos terrenos se utilizan otro tipo de botas, es normal que una suela estilo vibram se desgaste en un año en terrenos dificiles y rocas, es una suela de agarre, no para estresarla en piedras y rocas, es normal que el tejido se deteriore en ese tipo de terrenos, para esos terrenos se utiliza la piel o componentes sintéticos duros, no el tejido. Por lo tanto esta es una bota para usos como hacer el camino de santiago, o zonas de senderos en montaña, no es para internarse en el medio de la montaña donde te vas a encontrar con vegetacion que destroze el tejido y rocas que las desgaste, para eso están las propias botas de montaña de piel y goma dura. De momento utilizadas para senderos y para ir al trabajo, son comodas, ajuste perfecto al pie, 502 gramos en talla 40.5 que hace que no se note el peso en el pie, refuerzos en las tobilleras y talón, probada la impermeabilidad, se puede caminar horas con ellas sin fatiga, el tejido es muy rigido. Los cordones son delgados y no hacen mucha fuerza de apriete

These boots are very good and really are comfy to wear for long periods. Ankle support is great and are perfect for my long dog walking outings in different terrains. Will buy again but are really wearing well with daily use.
