For a long time I've been looking for a inexpensive way to add a smokey flavor to my foods without liquid smoke. At one point I even attempted to make my own smoke gun with a small vacuum device and hose fittings. Sadly that device could not tolerate the heat created by burning smoker chips. This one though has become my new go to device in adding depth to cheeses, sliced meats, and even meatballs. The device is simple to use, and only needs 2 AA batteries. The kit comes with a pack of wood chips that can be used immediately. I've also experimented with smoke pellets and after crushing them with a hammer, they worked just as well as the included wood chips. The device is sturdy in construction and the top is metal which does get warm when you begin to burn the chips. The smoke created is ample and the flexible tube can be inserted into a ziplock bag quite easily. The smoke that comes out is room temperature, which is a great improvement of my home-made smoke gun. Cool smoke makes it much simpler to use on things like cheeses as it doesn't cause the cheese to melt. I was really happy that a simple match could light the smoker without needed a lighter, or a stronger fire source. I'm pleased with this device and my next projects will be in the realm of adding smokey flavors to cocktails and chilis.

Bought this to make Old Fashioneds It works well. You place the wood chips (don't need a lot) in the top opening. Light a lighter, turn on the fan. The fan sucks the flame into the opening lighting the chips and making smoke. The amount of smoke it makes is pretty impressive, so just a little bit of wood chips are needed. The first time I used too much and set off the smoke detector. The build quality is good. The opening for the wood chips is just a little tricky to clean, but can be done. Overall pretty happy.

I love my little smoker. I waited to write the review to see how well it worked and lasted. Ive had mine for 4 months and use it once a week (sometimes more). It has held up superbly and does a very good job of adding a finishing smoke taste. This will never replace smoking meat all day in a big smoker, but it does a great job for what it is indented to do. Some people have complained of wires melting. The instructions clearly say use a match (not a wand type lighter) and only hold the flame until the wood catches (which is a whopping 2 seconds). I have taken mine apart several times to check and there is no sign of anything melting. Follow the directions and you'll have no issue.

This little gadget works well, but if you are looking for a lot of smokey flavor keep looking. I have used it with a cloche and in some cases for as long as one hour refilling fresh smoke as needed but still get only a subtle smoke flavor. I gave it five stars because it is well made and I believe it works as intended. Just be sure you realize this is not going to give the same results as a smoker.

Used it a few times and was all good. It then suddenly stopped working. ... Cleaned and changed battery. Just stopped working.

This does exactly what I'd hope. It's easy to use, it's Smokey, it works great and food was good! This purchase was worth it!

Great product! So happy with it. I bought it as a gift for my husband to make Smokey drinks and it is fantastic. We are excited to use it for cooking too! Definitely great value for your dollar.

This has been a great little gadget for making drinks. Use it regularly to make a smoked old-fashioned. Super easy to use, and the little packet of wood chips it comes with lasts a very long time (since you need so little to get good smoke).
