Great value for performance waxing product
So I'll start off by saying if this. If you're looking for a waxy finish on your garment this isn't the product for you. For a more the fashion trend wax look use Otter Wax. If you're looking to water proof and get a little more life out of your clothes this is the product for you. Quick Wax Guide Overview Fjallraven Wax- For performance and function, no waxy looking finish Otter Wax- For waxy looks not for performance or function, no true waterproof seal Project: Like I stated above this product is perfect for function and not for that waxy look. I used it on a canvas jacket from Target for my 5 year old son. I wanted a wax that would waterproof the jacket and add some stiffness to the fabric so I can hopefully get two seasons out of it (granted that depends on how quick my son grows). This worked great and when heated into the canvas was not left with a waxy feel. Application: Suuuuper super easy to apply. It was a bit time consuming to apply but well worth the outcome. Do not heat it up prior to applying (as some suggested), it causes blotchy spots and will 'stain' fabric (learned that the hard way). Simply draw it on until the garment is almost white, I didn't do it the first time and it left me doing another coat. After that I took my hair dryer and melted it into the fabric and vola! A great waxed canvas coat. Size: Some people complained about the size of it but to be honest a little goes a looong way with fabric wax and because this is a performance enhancing wax you're going to pay a little more. I have half of the bar left after two thick coats on a kids jacket which means I have more than enough to wax my husbands canvas bag!

Extremely pleased. Dozens of compliments.
I have two Fjallraven basball caps. The first had a heavy coat of wax. It was and is quite stiff and keeps its shape. The wax coating is utterly unique. It deepens the color of the fabric and keeps dirt off. I bought a second blue cap on amazon and it had minimal wax coating. I wanted the heavier finish so I bought the wax. The wax application process is primitive. You rub the wax bar over the fabric as if it were a bar a soap. I didnt use a hair dryer, which was the factory suggestion. I coated the hat in wax, heated my oven to 180, left the door open and through the hat in. The oven wasnt hot enough so I closed the door for two minutes. That worked. The wax melts and absorbs into the fabric, deepening the color and giving it a unique texture. I have been stopped in airports, on the street, and in stores, where people have asked, "where did you get the hat?"

does the trick!
So I'm an artist and I like keeping my travel art kits in roll type bags that I custom make for myself. I needed a new one and decided I wanted a waxed canvas one and chose to use this one as it was a decent price for the amount. I ended up using 2/3rds of the brick because I wanted my fabric to be HEAVILY waxed and very stiff not just waterproof. It was very time consuming but if I had use the product as designed it would actually have been a fairly quick application. I found that heating the wax up and working with smaller chunks at a time worked better for the heavy application I wanted. I would recommend using it cold if you just want to waterproof your item and don't want discoloration. Just rub it on and melt with hair dryer. The wax will make your fabric appear darker but if applied sparingly as intended, you won't notice it. In my case it is very noticeable but I had dyed the canvas before hand with the idea that the color would be darker with wax and more akin to what it looked like while wet. The wax has very little smell when cold, you may pick up a faint paraffin smell if you put your nose in the fabric. And when warm you may pick up a bit of a beeswax smell. but you have to be looking to smell something. All in all I'm happy with my results and if I ever need to way something again I'll repurchase this product.

It works, with some work
I've used Barbour Thornproof wax on a couple of Barbour jackets and hats for several years, so I'm familiar with the waxing process on garments. The Fjallraven wax is a little different, being much more solid and hard. It takes some elbow grease to apply, the recommended technique being to rub the bar of wax (about the size of a bar of soap) vigorously onto the garment being treated, then heat the garment to melt the wax and let it be absorbed into the cloth. Living in a cool, dry climate, this is not easy, since the arid conditions make the bar of wax even harder. Next time I might try slightly heating the wax first (not melting it, just warming it), which might make it easier to apply. I've used a hairdryer with good success to melt Barbour wax into the garment, but the hairdryer process took forever, and produced mixed results, with the Fjallraven wax. Might be easier in a warmer, more humid climate. I purchased an inexpensive heat gun to use the next time around since a hairdryer simply doesn't get hot enough to do a good job melting the wax. I'll need to be careful not to torch my trousers, though. There is a fine line between just enough heat and ignition. Because the hairdryer didn't suffice where I live, the wax left some streaks. I hope to remedy that with the heat gun. In short, the stuff works, and the finish it leaves has a more pleasant dull appearance than the somewhat shiny surface left by Barbour dressing. It is a chore, though, no way around it. Takes about 45 minutes to do a pair of pants. Its the price one pays for a traditional waxed cotton garment. I wouldn't go through the effort if I didn't use the garment for serious outdoor wear. Waxing is what makes the garment waterproof, though, and waxing does help the treated garment wear better and last longer, particularly by carefully treating the seams. I don't do it for looks, since it doesn't improve the looks. It improves the item's performance. One large bar of the Fjallraven wax will treat several items of clothing. I found it to be virtually odorless, much more pleasant than Barbour wax. I'd rate it three stars because it's a chore to use, 4.5 stars because it is reasonably priced and it works.

High quality wax.
A bit expensive but absolutely the best wax for waterproofing your fjallraven clothing and gear. To apply, rub the bar into your clothing until your clothing or fabric has a white sheen to it. Using a heat gun (carefully) or a hair dryer on high, melt the wax into your fabric until the wax “disappears”. Your fabric will be stiffer, uglier, and noticeably “waterproof” but it is totally worth it. I applied this wax to my fjallraven Anorak No. 8 (see picture) and wore it in a rainstorm and the water just rolled off in beads. Would recommend.

Works great
This wax worked great on my 100% cotton duck down coat...Easy to apply by just rubbing it onto the fabric then use a blow dryer set to high and the white film just disappears into fabric...It stiffens up my coat a little but it actually helped blocking out cold air... I tried this on my TOADS rain coat made of 100% polyester and it left streaks all over it...I wouldn't recommend using this product on anything polyester as it will leave dark streaks....I tried this and used it on my Toads raincoat because it isn't that great at actually blocking rain despite being a rain coat...Polyester rain coat allows water penetration over time when I am wearing it out in a rain storm... I had nothing to loose using this product on my rain coat and don't mind dealing with the streaks if it helps with water penetration....Nothing worst than taking off a rain coat only to see that my shirt underneath and the pockets on the coat are wet. Toads raincoats are total waste of money...

From one bar I got one good initial coat on this piece of kit
Many people ask how much area will a large bar cover? The answer is 180cm x 180cm (5'9'' x 5'9"). I applied this to my soviet surplus plash palatka. From one bar I got one good initial coat on this piece of kit. I had enough left to cover a penny with a thin sliver. It did darken the plash palatka a shade greener but that is not concerning to me. Since the plash is a canvas material, it made it stiffer, but still plenty pliable. I only did one treatment but had I applied another coat I'm sure it would be much more stiffer. The wax does a great job making the garment more hydrophobic. It doesn't smell at all except when putting the hot iron to it, then it smells like crayons. Overall a good product.

This stuff works great
OK, a little elbow grease is required (but not too much), just be careful that you test on your fabric as it may not work great on all types of materials. Yes, this is specifically intended for their G-1000 fabrics but you can extend the use of that. The product itself is good, the shipper send it without any delays and I only have one teenie gripe and that is the description which lists this as a 100 gram. Fjällräven themselves lists this as 90 gram and I verified this with my scale so yes, this is 90 grams and not the listed 100 grams. Will this matter in the grand scope of things? Nope and the weight is not listed on the package so it might be an honest mistake which... can be remedied ;)
