I was hesitant to spend this much on a coffee mug, but after using the Ember Mug 2 for several weeks, I can honestly say it’s one of those products that’s hard to live without once you’ve experienced it. The biggest advantage is that it doesn’t just keep your coffee “warm”—it keeps it at the exact temperature you prefer. Instead of taking a few sips, getting distracted, and coming back to lukewarm coffee, every sip tastes just as good as the first. That alone has completely changed my morning routine. The app is intuitive and easy to use. Pairing the mug took only a minute, and I love being able to set my preferred drinking temperature, create presets for different beverages, and receive a notification when my drink is ready. Once you have your favorite temperature dialed in, you rarely have to think about it again. The 14-ounce size is perfect for a generous cup of coffee or tea, and the 80-minute battery life is more than enough for my morning routine. When I’m working at my desk, I simply leave the mug on the included charging coaster, and it keeps my drink at the perfect temperature for as long as I need. It completely eliminates the need to microwave coffee halfway through the morning. I also appreciate how premium the mug feels. It has a clean, modern design that looks beautiful on my desk or kitchen counter, and the white finish gives it a sleek, minimalist appearance. Despite all of the technology packed inside, it still feels like drinking from a high-quality ceramic mug rather than a gadget. The mug is incredibly smart without being complicated. It automatically wakes up when it senses liquid, goes to sleep when it’s empty, and quietly does its job without requiring constant attention. Everything feels thoughtfully designed. If I had one piece of advice for prospective buyers, it’s to think of the Ember as a temperature-maintaining mug rather than a mug that quickly heats cold coffee. Pour your beverage in while it’s already hot, and the Ember keeps it at your ideal drinking temperature throughout your entire coffee break. That’s exactly what it’s designed to do, and it does it exceptionally well. Yes, it’s an investment, but if you’re someone who regularly reheats coffee, works at a desk, gets interrupted during the morning, or simply appreciates enjoying your beverage at the perfect temperature, it’s absolutely worth it. It has become one of my favorite everyday purchases and one that I use every single day.

*update* !! The mug still works awesome and I’m super happy with it…PLUS…I discovered that my yeti travel cover fits in it!!! This extends the 80 mins of heat to MOST OF THE DAY (at 120F) if you can get ahold of a travel lid then you’ll love it even more!!! I tried out Ember, Nextmug and a coffee cup warmer. I chose Ember and here's why: (For context I am a busy mom and I drink one cup of coffee per day. I tend to sip on that cup all morning long. I like to bring it around the house with me, often settling in one area for long periods (like to do a craft or do computer). I chose the Ember mug and here's why not the others: 1) The warmer- I couldn't bring the mug around the house with me, it had to always stay on the warmer. Also, as I drank the coffee down, it got hotter and hotter (less to heat). I had to keep turning the warmer down. Twice I forgot I left the warmer on and left the house and it stayed on all day. The warmer was also very hard to clean if you got a ring on it because it gets baked on. Literally I could not get the ring stain off. Lastly, the coffee tastes super gross after a few hours. Not sure why...but the heat from the bottom does something to it. 2) Nextmug - I didn't like the shape of the mug. It looks deep but actually half of the mug is the heating element so it's not deep. Mine kept shutting off randomly, like within 10 mins of setting it, maybe it was defective? It also seemed to get hotter as the liquid became less like the warmer did. 3) Ember - immediately I could see the temp on the app as soon as the liquid hit the cup, which I thought was NEAT! It turns its self on automatically when the coffee is put in it and goes to the last setting you set it at. It keeps it at that exact temperature regardless of how much is left in the cup (yay!). Thus it never overheats the coffee and the coffee stays delicious. I can take it all around the house and it is sturdy, looks cool and is nice and deep. It does shut off a lot sooner (from inactivity) than others, BUT it heats back up again surprisingly quick, so I'll take it. Others have voiced connectivity issues. I have an iphone14 pro and it hasn't had any trouble yet, but I just got it. For the record I was hoping I could control it via the app even when I wasn't home (like turn it on and off remotely) but it doesn't work that way. Since it's bluetooth and not wifi controlled you have to be near it for it to work. Good luck friends!

we bought this for my husband for father’s day, as we have a small baby and often can’t drink our coffee at once. He loves this! It’s easy to use with the app, and he said the temperature stays consistent. He can take a sip, give the baby a bottle and change him, take another sip, play with the baby, go back and the coffee is still at the perfect temperature. I purchased on sale for $99 which felt like a good price. It does have to be hand washed, but the material of the cup makes it super easy to clean.

I ordered two of these mugs. One of them the box was open, and the mug wouldn’t charge. I returned that, but there was no way to get a replacement mug so I was given the option of just to return. For some reason Amazon didn’t give me the full value of the return so I called them and they gave me an Amazon credit that I could only use with Amazon warehouse products. Not sure why since the box was opened when I received it. I did replace that mug, it is working, for now . The second mug, that I ordered originally, stopped working so I emailed Ember (because there’s no customer service phone number). After 4 back-and-forth emails with them, they finally sent me a long list of questions that they could’ve done in the beginning; so I just returned the second mug on Amazon again. This time they gave me the full value of it…. Not sure why it was different from the first return. The first replacement mug that I received for the one that was not charging is working properly, but I don’t trust it and there’s only a 30 day window to return. Had Ember had a customer service phone number it would’ve been much better. I could’ve answered all their questions and the Warranty would’ve been good. I do not recommend this product. I’m also disappointed with Amazon for not refunding the full amount for the first mug that the box was opened and wasn’t charging. Now I have a hidden credit of $12 that will only appear when I eventually order a product from Amazon that is shipped from their warehouse….. very frustrating!

2nd Edit. I am restoring my original 4-star review (see below for why I dropped it, 1st edit). After using this for several months, even though it doesn’t keep my coffee at a temperature I prefer (much hotter than 145), and I wish it lasted longer than 90 minutes, it has become my go-to mug, especially for morning coffee. The top half of the coffee cools down too fast for me but the bottom half does stay pretty hot, and I like that. I never used to drink a full cup because I hate lukewarm coffee; I just have to drink it a little faster than I want. So back to four stars. Edit: after using the mug for a few weeks, I’ve come back to lower it a star. Really the 145 degrees is just too low as a top temperature and I can’t pop it in the microwave to heat it up because of the components. It takes too long to recharge. I want more than 90 minutes warming time. Taking the base and plugging it in wherever I go isn’t feasible. I really, really want to like this mug and I’ll keep using it (because it was so expensive). I could overlook the other things that bug me if it kept it heated to a much higher temp—160 to 180. This only keeps my coffee at 145 degrees—not hot enough. I noted when the coffee was put in the mug it was 182 degrees (as measured by the blue tooth settings); I wanted it to stay at this temperature, 145 is too low. It only works for 90 minutes. Not long enough for me, I drink my coffee over time. It will stay on longer if you keep it in the charger disk but I don’t have plug ins where I’m normally drinking the brew. So not convenient. Other than that, it does work so I really can’t complain. It meets all the specs it laid out. It was my fault for not realizing 145 degrees isn’t as hot as I’d like it to be. That’s why I give it 4 stars, they didn’t misrepresent at all and it does work. Can’t fault them.

Had an Ember previously before they put ceramic lining inside. Loved it but bottom flaked off because of spoon. Purchased another brand and was very disappointed. Went back to Ember because of ceramic lining. Pricey but worth it. Highly recommend.

(Updated review after exceptional customer service) This mug keeps my black coffee at the perfect temperature for about 2 hours. Love it. My wife gets a bit of film after some time as she puts creamer in her tea, but still uses it so can't be that bad. I've had this mug just over 2 years. Product started malfunctioning after the warranty was up. I spoke to someone directly from Ember and we attempted some troubleshooting over the course of about a week. There was clearly an issue with the battery which the service representative said is unusual. We eventually came to the conclusion that the product needed replacement and he offered to replace at a reduced "after warranty claim" cost. When I went to pay the reasonable cost I was informed they were replacing free of charge as a goodwill gesture. Excellent customer service.

Works effectively as described.

The Ember Smart Mug 2 can keep your tea/coffee at the perfect temperature for hours, making every sip as good as the first. However if you like very very hot tea then this product is not for you. Because usually we like tea to be very hot. In short it does not give you a boiling hot tea. just enough to keep it not cold.

I really enjoy using this Mug my only concern is that it changes to 100%. Within 5 minutes it on 75% charge and only then its works correctly and slowly discharge as it keep my drink hot.
