The sixth edition of Database System Concepts is popularly considered to be one of the cornerstone texts of database education. The basic and fundamental concepts are presented in an intuitive manner and are designed to help students begin working with databases as soon as possible. The book commences with a basic introduction, which discusses fundamental topics like Database Languages, Database Users and Administrators, Database Design, and Data Storage and Querying. Then, the book is segregated into ten sections. Relational Databases, System Architecture, Speciality Databases, and Transaction Management are a few. Chapters like Object-Relational Mapping, Relevance Ranking Using Terms, and Distributed Data Storage are discussed in detail. This edition also provides a revised coverage of SQL, with greater attention to variants of SQL in actual systems and SQL features. There is also new material on support vector machines and validation of classifiers. The text supplied in this book emphasizes applications, practical issues, and implementation, coupled with comprehensive coverage of the key theoretical concepts in a clear manner. Algorithms and concepts are presented in a general setting, while they are not tied to any database system, in particular, annotations and variations specific to particular database systems are provided. He procured his Ph.D. from Princeton University. S Sudarshan is an Indian professor and head of the department of computer science and engineering at IIT, Bombay. His primary research area is database systems, and he is a member of the Board of Trustees of the VLDB Foundation.

Good book for understanding concepts but you have refer other stuff for exams to write a technical long answer

According to me book is amazing, it is the one of the best books to study database. Thanks to Amazon, to provide such a excellent master piece at low price. About product condition - very good. If you're preparing for GATE, this book will be at the top choice. Top books according to me, to study DBMS are - 1. Korth 2. Raghu RamaKrishnan 3. Ramez Elmasrj NPTEL video lectures can be the good option to get good knowledge about the subject.

Good book, but no sql summary could be added in later edition

It is an great book for a person who really want to learn DBMS and it is complete enough.it has Euclid example of common sense to understand DBMs and As well as detailed coding for the pratical implementation ..if preparing for Gate it is an epic book and watch anyone lecture for full understanding ....

Book content is really awesome but one thing is very bad. Book is looking very dirty like before it is used by someone. It is not look like a new book. So that I am requesting to seller that please provide clean and new book so that customer get satisfied.
