This thing packs a punch and can easily cut through small sized branches and brush. I even cut down a tree with a good 4" base, rather easily. I did overestimate the item, and got carried away and was just going crazy cutting and chopping and probably the 2nd day out with it the blade detatched from the handle and flew into the woods. I loved it so much though that I purchased another one. This time it has lasted me 2 years, as I am now using it as it was intended =). It may seem tempting and be alot of fun, but I do not recommend chopping everything in sight with it! It turned clearing out my backyard into a rather enjoyable task. The hooked front is great for when you are just swinging and cutting alot, as it helps to grab the brush and dig in and slice through. The handle is pretty comfortable, and I don't recall any discomfort or blisters after using it for many hours a day. The holder it comes in is what I use to store the brush axe in. It is a nice holder and hangs on the wall, but also keeps the blade secured and covered so as not to injur unsuspecting people. The axe did come pretty sharp, and I believe I have only sharpened it one time since I have had it, and I use it probably 25-30 times a year. Generally, if a product doesn’t explicitly say it’s made in the USA, it’s not. **Q: Where is it manufactured?** A: China like most things these days unfortunately. But it does have a nice feel in your hands. **Q: Does hook and hook side blade cut stems and is it sharpened (or sharpenable)?** A: yes, hook and hook side blade come sharpened, but can be resharpened if you don't like the type of edge they put on it. **Q: Where is it made?** A: I can’t find any markings indicating where it was made. The Fiskars brand is from Finland, however I don’t know if it was made there. I keep the sheath/holder ziptied to my brush cutter or side by side. It’s imperative that you keep the lanyard looped around something because the holder/sheath tends to pop open at random (usually at the worst possible time) and it will drop the chopper off where you’re unlikely to find it. The holder/sheath is likely the biggest weakness and if I were to use it more often I would have to make something more suited to being carried instead of ziptied to equipment. The handle is ok maybe better than ok, but I wrapped it in hockey tape impregnated with a bit of shoe goo to make a handle more suited to my needs. (It’s also not orange so a win/win! The steel is carbon so sharpens easily and stays sharp longer. Coating is pretty good, but expect to do simple maintenance/rust prevention as the coating wears. I’ve owned this since 2022 and have kept it strapped to equipment much of that time.
