Got 2 viral infections after a month of taking these
I found myself battling a skin infection once and decided to take Reishi mushrooms to build up my immunity. After a month the skin infection stayed as is but I got 2 viral infections in a row - the flu and an enterovirus. I NEVER catch these in an ordinary year. I was so disappointed. Then I read that ground up Reishi mushrooms do nothing - it has to be an extract - either alcohol based or water based (both have different beneficial compounds). Nice con, Solaray, just grinding up mushrooms and selling them at this price!

First some insight as to how I started taking Reishi Mushroom as a supplement: About 5 years ago I was incessantly sick and always seemed to be coming down with something, and a co-worker of mine suggested Reishi mushroom as a supplement to boost immunity. At the time, I was a skeptic when it came to supplements, called him a witch doctor, but then decided to give it a chance regardless since I did NOT want to get sick again, and I already had the looming sore throat and swollen lymph glands. Anyway, I'm glad I gave his suggestion a try, because the next day I woke up feeling refreshed, and not a sign of illness. Since then I take Reishi religiously, and I have had two colds in the last 5 years. I've gone from the most susceptible I know to illnesses to the least likely to pick up a bug, so if you want to know about Reishi in general, I highly suggest starting a regiment of it. Just be prepared for some....umm..."gastro disturbances" the first few days since it's extremely high in insoluble fiber. Anyway, on to this specific product: Seeing as I take Reishi regularly, I'm always worried about cost and quality of a product. There was a brand that I preferred to Solaray for a while that contained a higher concentration of polyscaccharides and was of similar cost, but their brand has inflated to nearly three times the price of this one, and I could easily double up my dosage of Solaray to account for the difference. At that time, Solaray became my "go-to" brand for Reishi, and that's been for about two years or so now. They remain a consistent price leader, but still deliver a quality product. So if you're looking for the right combination of quality and price, I don't see Solaray being beat.

After taking this Solaray Reishi Mushroom supplement for several months, I noticed no improvement at all in immune system, reduce stress, improve sleep, and fatigue, and or overall well being. After researching why I saw no improvement, I learned that mushroom supplements effectiveness in such products require extraction (at least a single extraction, ideally dual) from the fruiting body, with standardized beta-glucans or triterpenes. This product contains mostly mycelium grown on rice and does not list any extraction method or beta-glucan content, which likely explains the lack of effect. Mycelium alone offers little to no benefit — it’s mostly a filler. The bottle claims “Non-GMO” and states its certification, but by who??? Even if true, this claim and how its produced does not make the supplement effective. Companies selling mushroom supplements should be aware of what actually works. Very disappointed, thought I could trust SOLARAY. I would not recommend this product, as it’s a waste of money and time for anyone looking for real health benefits.

I must deal with two long-standing infections that don't seem to respond well to pharmacological intervention. Therefore, I turned to herbs, three specifically: (odorless) garlic, which makes one's body rather inhospitable to either viruses or bacteria; turmeric, which interrupts the inflammation process; and reishi, which I recently learned about: Herbal Antibiotics, 2nd Edition: Natural Alternatives for Treating Drug-resistant Bacteria . I'm on day 10 of taking this product, and it's already made a positive difference for me, starting at about day 8: I have a lot more energy than I am used to. That's kind of a bellwether for whether a product works for you or not. Therefore, I'm recommending it, with the caveat that one simply does not know whether an herbal product will work for one or not before one tries it. It's not so expensive as you might think, either, so if you're looking for something to help you recover your health, I'd definitely recommend giving this herb a go. As with all herbal meds, unless you are allergic to it (that becomes rather immediately apparent, but is easily resolvable with a simple allergy OTC drug), you will find that it works for you or it doesn't. It won't afflict you with side effects in either case.

OK, I saw the great price with free shipping and ordered this instead of the one with free shipping for Priime Members (Prime cost was a couple of more bucks.) The item was delivered on time, but it took over a week to get it. (Obviously I didn't read the fine print of when it would be shipped.) Anyway, I am taking two of these in the morning and can report that my "out of control" cravings for carbs and sweets have backed off a few notches. It will be a couple of more weeks before I can say if my blood pressure has responded in any way. I also have noted that I'm not having the level of anxiety that I did before taking this product. That's good! I like the Solaray brand and now that I know how long it takes to ship I may order from them again (If I don't procrastinate!!! I'm also looking at buying Reishi Powder and making my own extract.

They really seem to help my psoriatic arthritis. This is one of two Reishi supplements I've tried and while this one doesn't have the same "feel" as the extracted powder, I think it works better for the autoimmune issue that I was dealing with. Plus, it's a lot cheaper. I know there are probably better products on the market but I think this one has a great value. I plan on doing a much more intense therapy with BPC-157 but that will only repair damage. This stuff stops or slows the disease process that causes the damage and it does so without giving you cancer like the immune suppressors the doctor gives you.
