CASIO G-SHOCK G-LIDE GWX-5600C-7JF Men (Japan Import)

So, here you are, searching for a nice everyday beater watch here on Amazon - something you won't be afraid to abuse and get dirty. You stumble across this version which costs about 2x more than the average GSHOCK, and I'm sure you're asking yourself, "why?". The first reason, of course, is that for us here in North America, this watch was never officially sold. This will be a grey market import. To be honest, this was a major factor in my choice. As a somewhat borderline watch collecting addict, I'm always on the look out for new and unique ways to add to my collection. While yes, this is another GSHOCK, it has an air of exclusivity and individuation, as silly as that might sound for a piece of this caliber. Second, this thing is loaded with features. All the usual functions are there - alarm, stopwatch, chrono, illumination, with a couple of cool extra add-ons, such as the negative screen, tide graph, and a rudimentary moonphase (really more of a 'how full is the moon this week' option). The watch is of course quartz, and is powered by a small solar panel that is surrounding the screen on the inside of the bezel. The rest of the face features a nice dark blue/black theme that is very pleasing and provides nice contrast against the rest of the super bright and glossy resin case/band. The watch is 20bar water resistant, to which I can only say it does fine in the shower. I wouldn't ever hesitate to take this thing anywhere any time. Personally, I love this thing so much that I often wear it over my much nicer, much more expensive horological pieces. I think it looks great with just about any attire - even with a suit, where it really stands out against all the Submariners, Seamasters, and Datejusts among that type of crowd. This, is of course almost sacrilegious and completely vulgar, but I think it works very well, and never hesitate to wear the thing, inside or out. Also to note, I have a pretty large wrist at 7.5", and the watch sits nicely on there. I think it wears a little larger than its size with the squared shape. So, tl:dr - buy this thing. It's a little pricey, but it's fairly exclusive over here, tough as nails, and will NEVER let you down for as long as you live. Thanks for reading!

So this is a Japanese import watch. SO the instructions are all in Japanese. I downloaded the instruction booklet on my phone as a PDF. Being a white watch it looks amazing, a real head turner! It is a "surfers" watch, having low and high tide, this functionality wouldn't really be much help for people that aren't into water sports are wanting to know what time high and low tide comes and goes I.e everyday use. At night around 00:00 it will automatically update to the correct time to the very second. And if you go to another time zone it will automatically update to that time zone. Great value for the money!

Great G –shock, classic Square design and a very retro but with modern features. Solar powered and the time also has a moon phase. This watch is imported from Japan -Not sold in the US. I was very pleased with the color and the black accents. The only drawback (if any) Would be that the back lighting is very dim and it’s a little hard to see it. Overall great modern/classic!

Pros: - Multi Band 6 - Solar-powered - Negative display (very personal) Cons: - Negative display may be harder to read in certain lighting conditions for some Slim, rugged design makes it perfect as a daily. Seller got it out quickly and in pristine condition.

I got this because I have always wanted a white Casio G-shock watch. And now I have one. However, I did not realize how poor the legibility of this display is. It's kind of a reflective display, you have to adjust it to read in the light you have. Much better outdoors. The watch and band have a very shiny, almost painted on look. Kind of looks cheap to me. Just not for me I guess. The tide/wave thing is neat, but I don't have much use for it, but I knew that going in, so I'm not knocking that part. It's still a Casio, so great quality, great time keeping, with tough solar, and multi band, if you are in a good location for that...and very well made, high quality watch. Just not for me, but I kept it anyways, just not one of my favorite Casio watches. Your mileage may vary!

This watch has a lot of features that in my opinion justify the price tag. The glossy coating does make it a bit more resistant to flex. It's also more difficult to read the display. I wouldn't buy this as your first g-shock square, I'd recommend one with the softer bands first so that you can experience what makes it so popular in the first place. However, in regards to this being a fashion accessory with all of the g-shock tech that is coke white and worn by the Casio OG Kikuo Ibe... this is a must have. I have a DW 6900CR as well which still looks brand news 5 years later so these glossy coatings hold up very well. This is not their last watch. There are other listings on this site. They want you to impulse buy believing it is one of the last left and it is not.

It’s shame because this is a classy looking G Shock. Unfortunately, it’s totally unreadable in any light. Go for the black version of this watch. It has a positive display and is totally readable.

I know I like the watch, just very disappointed that after waiting several days to receive, it came in with yellowing on the band due to UV exposure, some dirt/grime on the inside of the strap, and on the back plate. I'm having it replaced and we will see how it arrives. I'll update when I receive the next one.... Update: Second watch arrived. Box was sealed, watch had tags on band (first one didnt) and it is clearly new. Same seller but shipped from a different warehouse. The watch is awesome, just make sure you get what you are paying for.

I received the watch just the next day from my purchase. The watch is in perfect condition and full set with tags , Japanese box and warranty since it's Japanese LE. Little hesitated of the white but I think I will get used to it.

First of all, let me adress the elephant in the room: is the negative display readble? Short answer: yes. Long answer: yes, as long as you tilt the watch a the right angle. I've attached a few pictures for reference, including two next to the positive display version of the watch, which is obvisouly more readable, but doens't have quite as nice backlight! I very much prefer the white version as I was looking for a watch with a white strap that stays white, which apparently is the case with this watch, so I wear the white one much more often. I think there is also something really eye catching about the negative display and the fact that only you can read it! Other than that, the watch does what it says on the tin: atomic time, tide, moon, stopwatch, countdown timer etc. The buttons are failry easy to press, although you may want to use your nails to get a more secure press, but I don't conider this to be an issue whatsoever. Hopefully, the pictures will help you make a more informed decision.

Definitivamente un Casio para usar afuera en días soleados durante la primavera y el verano, la pantalla negativa luce su mejor apariencia bajo la luz del sol. La iluminación Electro-Luminosa es muy bonita cómo siempre pero luces algo menos brillante o tal vez más suave, supongo porque es una pantalla negativa. Se que este G Lide no es para cualquiera pero si te interesa tener un Casio exclusivo del mercado domestico japonés y que luzca genial, este es uno que deberías tener.

A great and very rare and hard to find watch. Unfortunately for le, the negative dial was too much for my tired old eyes. I thought it was going to be easier to read. That picture was taken under direct sunlight and yes, it looks amazing. But as soon as you get a little shadow, even outside, boom, it’s hard to read the screen again. It looks beautiful and I think it’s a very amazing watch, but it was too complicated for me to adjust the time and the tide/moonphase. The seller is as professional as it gets.
