Good DIY project
This valve is performing perfectly. I didn’t know my faucet was a Kohler brand. I turned the water off under the sink. I removed the faucet handle. Inside the handle was a plastic part with a part number on it. I googled that number and it identified Kohler and the valve part number. I immediately ordered the Kohler genuine part from AMAZON! :) The part came quickly. Removing the old one is difficult. I couldn’t budge it. Fortunately there are several videos on the internet with various methods of doing it. Some are labor intensive…one used a breaker bar. I chose the one that was brilliant. It showed using an electric impact wrench… which I have. I just barely tapped the trigger and it instantly popped the valve loose so I could unscrew it easily. I wiped out the inside where the valve came out of. I put a small amount of food grade silicone grease on the new valve threads and installed it. I tightened it according to the instructions on the back of the Kohler genuine part package. I put a small amount of the grease on the threaded faucet handle and reinstalled it. I turned the water back on and no more leaks!

Did the job. Rebuild your old one and keep for later.
Fit fine but the old one was made with Brass and copper. This appears to be chromed steel or maybe stainless. I replaced the hard to turn unit with this, then soaked the old unit in vinegar overnight before disassembling, soaking parts in vinegar again to get the calcium out of the insides. Lubed with pool lube and re-assembled. I'll keep it on-hand to replace the next one that gets too difficult to turn. To rebuild, remove the clip and bow-tie stopper from the top, pull the washer off the bottom, and push the top down through the base. But unless you have extra time to do this, it's cheap enough to just buy a new one next time. Use Teflon tape when replacing to make it much easier to take out next time. As others have noted, it really doesn't matter which side you buy. The only difference between hot and cold is a little bow-tie stopper on the top held in place with a clip. If you want to switch it, pull the clip and rotate the stopper 90 degrees. Pictures are of the old one rebuilt to show the clip and stopper.

If you have a hard time removing the old one use 'power'
The valve works great and it's a perfect fit. However, removing the old ones can be difficult, if not close to impossible, with normal hand tools. The problem is that the entire valve body rotates and you run the risk of breaking the feed lines etc... I have seen several folks recommending removal of the entire valve from the cabinet to get this out. Didn't want to do that so I broke out my DeWalt 20V impact gun with a 13MM deep socket. Grabbed the threaded portion of the valve under the cabinet to hold it steady and with a few short bursts these came out with no drama. This saved me a ton of time and effort. Putting the new ones in just use your normal wrench and don't over tighten them. I put a bit of plumbers grease on the threads in the hopes this will make it easier for the next person doing this job, should that be needed.

Plug and Play
I ordered both the hot and cold cartridges to fix a Kohler Alterna faucet. The cold side of the faucet was frozen completely. I was concerned about getting the old cartridges out since they had been in place for 37 years. No worries. A little extra force on the ratchet with a 5/8" deep socket and they came out smoothly. I noticed one review that complained that the new cartridges did not come with the spline adapters required for certain handles (such as mine). The packages I received contained the black plastic splines, but I chose to use the brass ones from the old cartridges. Easy fix to get a like-new faucet.

Perfect fit
Removing the old fitting was quite a job. Once out putting new fitting in was easy. Snug fit, water tight. No more leak.

It Still Needed One
My John Deere GX325 kept stalling and because I could choke it I could keep it running, so I figured it was a fuel filter problem. I replaced the fuel filter to find that it offered no change to engine stalling. (I pumped some low pressure air into the fuel lines while I had the filter removed. Air bubbles back to the gas tank and no dirt coming out at the fuel pump inlet hose.) I pulled the fuel line off the fuel pumps outlet side and tried to start my JD to find that very little gas came out. (Pumped the gas into a small plastic container.) I replaced the fuel pump and my JD is back to normal. I didn't need the fuel filter to fix my problem but after 25 years of use it still needed a new one. The right price, Easy to install and still the simplest part to "rule out" the root cause. (Yeah, the pump wasn't that hard either.)
