I ordered these pants for my 15 year old son to wear to his fast food job. They fit really well had to order a 28x32. They fit true to size. The material is thick but comfortable and holds up well in the wash. Have had them almost 5 months and they have not faded. Great pants for the money. The quality is great.

I work in the construction industry. Due to an unforeseen fluke, I recently transitioned from the field, where we wear jeans daily, to the regional office, where the office dress code forbids jeans. I needed something I could wear around the office and look suitably professional and businesslike, but also wear into the field if circumstances required me to visit a jobsite or otherwise lend a hand. I snagged these, in no small part because I recognized the brand name. These turned out to be a good purchase for the purpose. They're made of a heavy twill fabric, that has enough weight to withstand wearing outdoors or in the field, and doesn't need ironed after washing. I especially like the expanding groin area, which makes squatting down to spot-check work easier than other khakis I've owned. Because the fabric is fully dyed (unlike denim, which has only some of its threads dyed), the color is solid and, at least so far, doesn't fade and lose its crisp look. The fit, I admit, is something I'm unaccustomed to. Designed for wear in managerial positions that don't require a lot of squatting and stretching, the cut feels tight across the pelvis and into the upper thighs. I don't know if that's something I need to get accustomed to, or if I need to maybe lay off the desserts; I can't tell if the fit is me, or if the cut is weirdly tight. But if, like me, you're used to wearing carpenter jeans in the field, these trousers will feel awkward while you make the transition. I would have to give these pants a mostly positive rating. They look good, wear evenly, and transition from the office to the field with minimum friction. The material is sturdy enough to withstand regular wear-and-tear, but not so heavy that they feel hot or uncomfortable. But if you buy them, expect to need a little time to get accustomed to the fit, because they don't ride like jeans. The fit will feel weird if you aren't used to wearing something like this before.

Solid pair of durable workpants. I've had a black pair for a while now that I tapered in the past, so I thought it was time to get a pair in navy. For those of you that haven't purchased a pair of 874's before, here are some things to know. They sit at your natural waist. This is something that you have to get used to if you currently wear low waisted pants. It can be uncomfortable to begin with, but overall its more flattering for your posterior and waist. They are a little snug around the thighs and flare at the ankles. If you have larger thighs like me, it can be a little restrictive. I'm 6'1 and 150 lbs, leaning towards the skinny side. I got them in a size 30 x 29 so I could have them slightly cropped. In the past, I had a 30x30, which fit pretty much perfectly with a cuff. Here are some of my cons regarding the pants. Out of the package, the starchiness of the pants can be a little abrasive on your thighs. This is something I got used to, but be warned. The first pair is always damn itchy. The center crease and the starchiness of the pants disappear after a couple washes. After about 2 washes, the center crease becomes almost unnoticeable. It takes about 20-30 washes for it to be slightly softer. I wish it would stay starchy for longer, but that's just a consequence of washing your clothes. I also dislike the way the fly bulges outwards near the belt. It's a hook and loop closure, which doesn't sit as flush as a button and buttonhole closure. This makes it push out near the belt loops. All in all, it's a steal for the price. Sturdy construction, classic colors, and cheap price. Would definitely recommend.

The first time I ever tried these pants on they felt and looked great. The fit felt quite good. I did read some of the other reviews bemoaning the stiffness of the material, but I like that. It means these pants will keep the sharp and crisp look they have, for longer. They are "work pants" after all. And, no doubt, they will soften a bit over time with washing. I liked them very much at first blush until I encountered the tight pockets. They are all too small and shallow, front and back. Especially the 2 front pockets. (A small inner change pocket within the front right pocket always goes a long way.) There's little room in there and anything you put into the front pockets shows up as an outlined bulge/s in the front of your thighs. Not a flattering look anywhere. If it weren't for the the poorly thought out and stingy pockets, and even though I haven't washed them yet, I would have given these Dickies Original 874 Work Pants 5 stars instead of 3.

Great fit, length and waist just right

The fabric pilled within 1 month with 2 washings inside out cold water. After 6 months of wearing two pairs of Dickies, the one bought in Nov 2025 pilled and the one from Oct 2025 did not. The Nov pants pilled so badly that they are embarrassing to wear apart from yard work. They are the 6th and only pair of Dickies purchased since 2015 on Amazon that pilled. All wear washed in same or similar ways. Dickies Men's Original 874 Work Pant, Khaki, 33W x 32L. From now on, I plan to order directly from Dickies so that I can make a warranty claim within 60 days. My guess is that this pair of pants was made from substandard fibers.
