if the water gets in em the temp goes crazy and youll cook or freeze whatever you are controlling
work well real affordable but a couple quit being accurate after a couple days in saltwater seems like the water gets in around the wires so i encased em in a plastic straw and siliconed the ends and that seems to do the trick

NOT WATERPROOF
I used a silicone sealant and heat shrink and it worked for quite a while. The first unprotected one died within a couple of days.
