We had our generator installed in December 2022 which is a late install for Canadian (Quebec) standards however the shortage of labour and all the regular pandemic excuses were the culprit. The one year cycle came around quicker than anticipated and our generator was showing a green/yellow light (December 2023) instead of the solid green. The computer no doubt triggered the 1 year, 1st maintenance cycle which I absolutely wanted to get done before the harsh Winter settled in.I called the authorized Generac dealer for the Montreal area and the representative told me that it was a 4 month wait and the pricing was 4 hours minimum at $150 + taxes per hour + kilometers charged to and from their shop (this worked out to about about $140 + taxes in my case). In total I was looking at $740 + taxes without any other "surprises".Skeptical about the extremely low cost of this package, I actually called Generac and confirmed all the part numbers to the representative... "all good" she said, they match everything needed for our generator.Amazon Prime delivered this the next day and I performed the required maintenance within about 40 minutes which is way longer than what it should have taken simply because I completely familiarized myself with the generator and the onboard electronic menu. Otherwise, anyone should be able to get this done in about 25 minutes. The longest part is waiting for all of the oil to drain from the narrow passage drain tube. Just saved ourselves about $700 and avoided some indifferent and careless technician showing up to try and convince me that it was worth $750.
