I've seen a very similar device that was advertised for treating cold sores. Has anyone else used this model for that purpose, and was it effective?

The only device I've seen advertised fro cold sores, is an *infra-red* targeted 'zapper'. It does not emit heat at all. I can't remotely imagine how heat would aid the healing of a cold sore – in fact if anything, sunshine is known to activate the latent cold sore virus, making previous cold sore sites re-ignite. So I'd steer clear of this for any purpose other than the advertised use.

Will this work on hives / heat lumps?

This product is specifically designed to treat insect bits and stings. It helps stop the itching and swelling. It is not suitable for hives or heat lumps.

This won't damage my skin will it?

I have been relatively happy with this, however, have experienced dark marks on the skin when I frequently repeated the heat on related spots. It depends on the skin, and how often one uses the heat on the same spot. Good luck.

Will this work on harvest mite bites?

Hello and thank you for your good question. Harvest mites are different, they are an external parasite and therefore best treated with frontline sprays or creams. Some people have a reaction to these mites, they can be extremely irritating. I would recommend speaking with your GP to get a suitable course of treatment specifically suited to you.
