Insta 360 X5 Invisible Dive Case, Waterproof Up to 60m (197ft)

Only dove with this once, but it’s watertight and it works. Construction feels sturdy, buttons are good. Got some great footage with my X5!

Image quality is terrible and the soft plastic is impossible to keep from getting scratched. No such thing as a sharp image with this case. Everything is “soft” and even blurry. After a few dives it is not worth taking it down anymore. Imagery is unusable.

I love my Insta360 and use it for everything from travel shots to underwater discoveries, so the completely invisible design of this dive case allows for stunning full 360° underwater shots, ideal for capturing my adventures while diving and snorkeling. I appreciate the thoughtful inclusion of fog protectors, which I used on both sides of the case during my recent diving trip. This feature ensured that my footage was clear and vibrant, without any distracting fogging. Plus, with its impressive waterproof capabilities up to 60 meters (197 feet), I felt confident exploring deeper underwater environments without worrying about damaging my camera. The lens material of the case is another standout feature. Made from optical imaging tempered glass, it boasts a light transmittance of over 98%, providing crystal-clear visuals without distortion. I noticed that my underwater videos captured every detail of the marine life around me while maintaining exceptional image quality. Additionally, the protective qualities of the case provided peace of mind, safeguarding my camera from potential drops and collisions. Overall, the Insta 360 X5 Invisible Dive Case has exceeded my expectations, enhancing my underwater shooting experience and allowing me to create unforgettable memories in stunning 360° detail.

Wish it had a protective travel bag.

I got this for a friend who won a free X5 camera in a raffle and was worried he was gonna damage it. So far it's held up very well. My buddy is an avid cyclist and this thing has survived at least a few drops from his bike with no ill-effect. His kids also tested it out in both salt and freshwater and it held up to kid shenanigans as well. It fits the camera snugly, so you've gotta make sure you pull off any other lens protectors or filters that you're using before closing it up. It seems to record everything just fine with no perceptible impact on picture quality. So yeah, in summary, it's functional and works just fine to protect your precious overpriced X5 camera lol.

So the insta 360 X5 is waterproof, but without this special case, underwater footage is a bit blurry and the stitching will not work without it. I was surprised with how big the view bubble is for the camera. I assume it's so there's no distortion. The package came with a nice soft sack to keep the case in, as well as lots of moisture pads so it doesn't fog up. I'm pretty sure if you put the camera perfectly dry into it it won't fog up regardless , but it's nice to have these pads just in case. Set up is straight forward, just put the camera in there and hold the Q button. If you have any other issues just look at the manual, it also has clear instructions. Since it's plastic, you need to be extra careful not to scratch it. Thankfully as of writing this, I haven't had that happen to me. As far as the footage looks, I've attached a short clip so you can see for yourself. This was with "aqua vision" enabled but the colors still look off in my opinion. This is not due to the case, it's just something to keep in mind. Maybe they'll fix this in a camera firmware update. Similar to the benefits of a selfie stick on land, I recommend having one for under water videos with 360 cameras. The stitch line itself underwater (even with dive case mode on) is a bit more noticable than it would be on dry land with no case, especially if you put the camera close to something. Make sure you rinse it with fresh water to make sure the buttons don't corrode. Overall, this case does work as advertised and I have not had any issues with it yet.

I'll provide an update on this after a trip to Hawaii in November. I've done some leakage tests with this so far where I just close the case and submerge it under water without my camera. So far, it seems to have held up fine with no leakages thus far. Upon trying it with the camera and recording a video, I do have the issue where in the videos, at times you can see the inside of the cover (the reflection). I think this has more to do with the quality of the material but also the fitment; if there's too much space between the lens and the actual cover, this is what results. I'll most likely bring another case as well to test side by side, just in case one gives out or if the reflection issue is worse in some situations.

Camera fits, however its design is bad. The holders for the moisture pads are poorly designed, the pads come loose and move around inside, ruining the photos. Must have a pad support on both sides Would not recommend it for the money it takes.
