Question 1

Looking for a pack for hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing mainly. Worries: Durability, no chest strap. Have these been a problem for anyone?

For rock climbing you will want a chest strap, so you are sure the straps stay where they should. Hiking - if you are carrying a sandwich and fleece jacket it should be fine, but I personally wouldn't go on a hike without padded straps and a chest strap...I carry a great deal more.

I'm 6ft tall and plus size do you think the straps will fit me comfortably or will they be too small?

The straps have adjustable length.  I'm plus size and the backpack is comfortable.  I was surprised at how much it held.  All the necessities for a day hike including a light-weight jacket.  Know that the material is thin, like parachute fabric, but strong.  I'm happy with the purchase.  Love the pink, purple, and blue colors.  I also love that it all folds up into the inside pocket.  Folded up it's about the size of 2 slices of bread.

I don't believe this is the same item. First, the Hikpro is reinforced in 14 areas PLUS has a reinforced bottom. Second, the Hikpro has over 3000 reviews with a full five star rating, while the Gonex only has 4.5 stars. I purchased this one because of the deal but already wish I had purchased the Hikpro and am thinking of canceling before it arrives and buying Hikpro. So no, they are not the same product.

Is its water proof reliable? I will be crossing borders and I dont want my documents to get wet

It's not water proof. The material is thin and they are zips on it as well. I walked though a slight rain and my items in the bag got wet. I prefer that if you are going to travel it's best to put your documents and electronics in a waterproff bag or zip lock bag for precautions.
