Nancy Drew Starter Set - Books 1-5

This set was an excellent purchase for my 11 year old great niece. Nancy Drew's awesome for kids.

Reading these books brings back good memories from my childhood…. I used to get them from the library and read them daily.

My daughter was loaned the set growing up and loved Nancy Drew. I decided to start my granddaughter on her own set. A great classic that still stands the test of time.

Well made books.

They are just as good today as they were when you were a child.

I had never read Nancy Drew books, so I started to read Book 1 to determine what I thought of it. I found that in just the first several pages, there were three characters who had lost one or both parents in childhood. The 5-year-old child rescued by Nancy had lost both of her parents due to an accident, that child's mother had also lost both of her parents when she was little, and Nancy herself, who is 18 in the story, had lost her mother. I was concerned that my sensitive, introspective 9-year-old granddaughter might be troubled by those scenarios and worry about her own life, so I returned the set. I am surprised not to find other reviewers expressing concern about this, but I believe that it is important to take into account, even if only so adults can prepare children - especially younger, impressionable ones - for what they will encounter in the book.

My child loves me to read these books to him and I enjoyed them as a child too

My husband is cognitively impaired and his Gerontologist wants him to read regularly. I needed books with a large enough print and that were easy to read. Having read the entire Nancy Drew series as a child I knew that these books would be a good choice. He's doing well with his daily reading session.

O box de livros demorou (por ser importado), mas chegou em perfeita condição e já gostei do primeiro livro. Muito bom e fácil para praticar o seu inglês. Só queria que tivesse o outros livros dessa série como box também, vale mais a pena o custo benefício.
