YakAttack Round Base Fish Finder Mount for Kayak Track Systems

I think the previous reviews are right on. I will just pass along a couple of other things I learned. First, I mounted a Garmin Striker Vivid 4CV. Fits perfectly. Now, you do not need to remove the 4 phillips screws as I did. I was trying to understand how the third screw would be secured between the Garmin tilt/swivel mount and the yakattack adapter. The nut is already inside and is in a hex hole that retains the nut and prevents it from spinning. Just screw that one in and add the provided nuts to the other two as they are accessible from the back. Second, the track mount on the bottom unsnaps from the unit. If you look at the bottom, you will see a couple of track guides molded in. Nice feature to add strength and stability. OK, more than a couple of points. I do not know what kind of plastic this is, but I have had it before. It looks and feels like the composite material high quality photographic lenses such as Nikon are made from. Whatever it is called, I expect it to be quite durable. The swivel joints are substantive. The wing nuts are large and easy to operate even with my big hands. This is my first yakattack product and I am positively impressed. I will look first at yakattack for yak accessories.

I purchased this mount for my Garmin Striker finder. Although it isn’t installed, I can say with confidence that this thing is SOLID. All of the connection points are solid, the lock in grooves are deep and solid. It would take a great force of nature to break this thing. Versatile mounting options and multiple positions achievable due to its design. I will be setting and forgetting, if this thing needs moved it won’t be a hassle. Look forward to installing.

This is a solid product. I use it with my Garmin Striker Plus 4 fish finder. I like how the mount's position and angle can be easily adjusted while the assembly remains securely attached to the base.

After struggling for a while to figure out how it installs on a rail in my kayak I find it well worth the effort. Marries up perfectly with my Garmin fish finder. I would have given it 5 stars if there would have been instructions included instead of having to search online for a video that shows the unit comes apart and you mount the lower half to the rail easily at that point.

I questioned how sturdy this was at first but it’s really not going to pop off. I had my doubts but after having it for months I can confirm it’s on there really well. Really convenient, I need to move my fish finder up and down every time I load my kayak in my truck and this thing has made the process easy. I didn’t understand the design at first but it has a ring around the font of it you can hang larger hooks from as well.

So far, I'm really pleased with this mount. The mount itself if very sturdy, but you have to also consider the gear track you are mounting to if you want a rock-solid mount. I mounted mine to a Yakattack geartrac (plastic). It's okay on stability, but I can see why some people have knocked this mount for being "unstable". The geartrac in my case, being made of plastic, has some flex to it. This allows the mount to wobble very slightly. I have a striker 4, which is a small and lightweight unit, so it's not an issue. The moral of the story is, if you want to mount a heavier fish finder on this, make sure you invest in a VERY sturdy mounting track to go with it. Preferably, one made from aluminum that has mounting screws on both sides of the gear track instead of just a single line of screws down the center. Again, for lighter fish finders like the striker 4, stability is not an issue. It's not a big deal to have a little bit of play in the mount. I've bumped this mount really hard while out on the water and it's held strong.

Its installation is straightforward and it securely holds the fish finder. It looks like a durable material, perfectly fit for Garmin 5cv.

Easy to mount. Goes perfectly with my Garmin Striker 4. Very happy with this set up on my Jackson Coosa FD.
