Now, that is partially true but an amp putting out a clean 100 watts RMS will sound louder and clearer than this amplifier which is ultimatley why I sold it. I ended up getting a ct sounds at 60.4 amp, which at 14.4 volts ..my vehicle when driving and listening to regular level music sits at about 14.1-14.2, and its sending about 90-100 watts RMS to each speaker instead of the 65 of this amp. You can tell the difference and I am happier with the ct sounds amp and don't care what people say about going from a Zapco to a CT sounds. The Zapco has a special kind of sound it gives off which is distinctly Zapco to me but the low wattage of this amplfier doesn't justify its price for me. It should be 150 bucks all day. The price point is absurd for it, and just because it has Zapco written on it and high quality components, for me personally, doesn't make it worth 280 bucks. I got mine used for 180 and kept it for about 3 weeks before finally giving in and agreeing with myself that I just needed more watts. Review: Great amp - One of the best sounding amps I have ever owned. No noise, just crystal clear sound.
