Green Gobbler Fruit Fly Killer | 1 Galllon

For more than a month I have been beset with fruit and drain flies. I mean hundreds of them in my kitchen and bathroom. I tried all of the traditional remedies--homemade vinegar and detergent trap, and some commercial traps. Although they caught some of the critters, they didn't really work. So I did some research and learned that they hang out and breed in the slimy stuff that lurks on the drains. One site by an exterminator recommended Green Gobbler, which is applied to the drains. Following the instructions I poured 8 oz into each the four drains where they lurked, including the disposal. By the next AM there were very few flies buzzing around. The following day they were all gone. Note: Apply the stuff at night and make sure to hit the walls of the drains. Don't run any water until the following AM. The instructions indicate that you may need a second application if any remain or if an infestation recurs. The material is pretty viscous, clings well, and has a spicy odor which is not unpleasant.

We’d been dealing with these tiny flies in our bathroom for months—honestly, probably years. Everything we researched suggested pouring boiling water down the drain, and while that would seem to work temporarily, the flies always came back. I finally decided to try Green Gobbler, even though I was hesitant to pay for something when hot water was supposedly able to “fix” the problem. I’m so glad I did. When I applied it, I poured hot water down the drain first, then used Green Gobbler around the edges as instructed. I figured I’d wait and see how long it lasted before deciding whether I needed to apply it again. That was months ago, and I haven’t seen a single fly since. It worked in a way boiling water never did, and I still have plenty left if they ever come back. Absolutely worth the money.

Green Gobbler Fruit Fly Goodbye seemed to slow down our gnat infestation but did not eliminate it. I am currently using Gentrol IGR solution to spray down the drains every night before we go to bed. It is supposed to kill the eggs left behind after Green Gobbler treatment. This also seems to be helping although our indoor bug Zappers (2) still crack a few times a day.

Works great, the smell is not overbearing. Smells like cinnamon and citrus. I poured it down my kitchen sink, my bathroom sink and tub drain to be safe. The flies were completely gone within 3 days. I do have some UV traps and ACV traps for back up to catch the ones already flying around. The product itself is quite thick but drains well; the directions do say to pour around the drain at night but I did pour some directly in which helped a lot. I bought the gallon size and used a red solo cup to pour it and cover the drain. Definitely a 10/10, hopefully these pests stay away!

I never write reviews on Amazon but I’m putting this here to help anyone suffering from a fruit fly infestation. Someone gifted us tomatoes from their garden. After a few days, the fruit flies came. I threw away the tomatoes but it was too late. The second I saw fruit flies in my bathroom, I knew they started breeding. Green Gobbler is NOT a miracle serum. It may help if you take other precautions. If you simply pour it into drains, it may or may not stick to the sides of the pipe depending on many factors like if the pipe is wet, if you already have organic sludge in the pipe, etc. So pouring this down the drain without cleaning your pipes is a waste of time. Again, I’m just putting this here to help someone. I recommend doing the following: 1. Kill the larvae and eggs first. Adults flying around are annoying but not really the main issue. It’s the flies breeding. To do this, scrub the inside of your kitchen pipes with bleach. Clean out all organic film. For me, I crawled under all my sinks, took off the P bend in the pipe, and used a scrub brush. DONT FORGET YOUR SINK OVERFLOW HOLE 2. Wipe the green gobbler by hand, on this inside of your pipes. Don’t just pour it down. Make sure it coats the inside. 3. Kill the adults. After you clean pipes, they have no where to breed. So the adults will die off anyway. But trapping them speeds this process up. I used Zevo blue lights, an electric bug zapper, sticky pads for windows, and other methods to kill them. After doing these 3 things, all flies went away after about 2 weeks. General notes: 1. This did not clog my drain. I did 4 green gobbler applications in a row. But make sure you clean out sludge first. If not, this may cause the clogging some people report. 2. Boiling water down pipes doesn’t work. Larvae can survive this. And it’s bad for PVC pipes. It doesn’t automatically break them but consistent boiling water can loosen pipe sealant and crack the pipes. 3. Vinegar and baking soda can be used to clean out your drain overflow. 4. I recommend not doing vinegar traps. They attract flies yes but in my situation, it lured more adults near my drains. I suffered from this infestation for about 2 weeks. As someone who hates bugs, this really drove me crazy. But the number one thing I can recommend is, CLEAN YOUR PIPES FIRST.

This stuff works! You have to be patient, it will not work overnight. Use it every night . I poured it at night before we went to bed faithfully. You do not want the water to be running. Use as directed and wear gloves. I used this straight for one month. We had gnats so bad in my restroom sink. Like they were hatching! This is pricey but trust the process be patient follow the directions! I still use it once a month because I’m afraid they will come back! But so far so good! I’m going on 3 months ! No gnats! Gone !

I didn’t have a major problem. Seems there was always a dozen or so about my kitchen area. I’d kill then and they’d return. I’d see them in the AM sleeping around the sink. Never heard of drain flies before. Bought a couple Zevos and that worked some. This stuff has killed them at the source which was noticeable after a couple of days. Been a week and I’m seeing maybe one a day.

Ok, I apologize in advance, but this WILL be long. I have had these annoying flies in my home for a few years now. I originally thought it was the house plants so I got rid of them. Then the dog food was infested...got rid of that too. I still see them. They fly in front of me and I notice them mainly while I am on the computer. Sometimes they stop on the monitor when I SMASH them. I SMASH them sometimes on the bathroom vanity mirrors too. Luckily, the monitor and mirrors have never broken. To be honest, I don't know what they really are. I have read for countless hours and looked at hundreds of pictures.....fungus gnats, drain flies, fruit flies.....I can't even read what I am typing without glasses so I suppose my chances of correctly identifying them are nill. I have no plants or fruit laying around in my home. I think that leaves the drains left. I have 9 drains that I am attempting to treat. Not sure if this matters, but I am on city water so I do not have any type of septic tank issues. I also clean my drains regularly with a hard brush. When I look into any drain in my home, it is white and pristine. I had my garbage disposal removed years ago. The only drains in my home that ever get funky are the ones where I brush my teeth so I make sure to clean those 2 drains more often and thoroughly. I think it is from white toothpastes that contain calcium. I'm slowly getting to a point here. My bathroom sinks have the sinkshrooms in the drains. They kind of "hug" the drains about 1.5" into the drain and do no let hair go down. If I am trying to spit toothpaste into the drain, I have never noticed it clog or slow the drain at all, ever. I am AT my point now. The point is, I have overflow drains on all of my bathroom sinks. I have never used them for their purpose. They just kind of exist there. BUT the sinkshrooms seem to hold that toothbrushing spit and from there it has backed up into the overflow drainholes and then they eventually drain some of whatever was in them. There are 4 overflow drain holes in each of my bathroom sink drains. I had never cleaned them out before because I never knowingly used them and kind of never really noticed them until last week when I spent 3 hours on each sink cleaning them out. THEY ARE GROSS and filled with funk that grows. I had my waterpick shooting water into them for over an hour, then I got my drain brushes and cleaned them from the top, then from the bottom up in each of the 4 overflow holes in the drain. sprayed cleaner, repeated everything until the brushes came out clean every time. Yes, I'm anal. I did this to each sink and it took me 2 days. Yes, I would absolutely think flies were attracted to the funk living in there! I say all this assuming this product is the bomb. If it does not work for you at all, try looking to see if your overflows are gross. You many need to treat them as well as clean them. I, soon, will be replacing my counters and the sinks too and I can assure you the new ones will NOT have an overflow drain. It was really as gross as a garbage disposal that had never been cleaned before. So, I went through all of that, and I still have a fly. I never had an overwhelming problem with these flies, it is just one or 2, but it is daily and annoying. My toilets are both brand new, 2 weeks old, they are sealed at the bottom with new grout. They are not the issue. Bath and shower stalls and bath overflow drain were cleaned as well. That leaves the laundry room drain which is a pipe in the wall. I am hopeful this will eliminate the problem, but the whole point of this review is to CHECK YOUR OVERFLOW DRAINS IF THEY NEED TO BE CLEANED TOO! UPDATE: I have used this gallon and it went very quickly in my home. It did not work. I resorted to purchasing an indoor/outdoor bug zapper and turned it on at night in my dark kitchen. Every time I turn it on, within 10 minutes I hear the sweet sound of success. I have only zapped 5 of these in the past week, obviously I don't have an overwhelming problem, but it is still annoying just the same. I think if I was willing to spend another 60- 120 on this product and treated every drain nightly, I might be satisfied, but definitely poorer. I will see what I can accomplish with the bug light only first. I may be back to repurchase this. In any event, I do LOVE the citronella scent to this. I am not completely sure how this is supposed to work, whether it is by coating the drain and smothering any larva that may exist there, or by the citronella oil in the product. In any event, what I did notice with this product is that the gel dries overnight and then turns into a dry film that coats everything it touches. That film seems to wash down the drain. It appears to have gone down in one huge piece down the drain until the water gets hot. I am hoping the hot water melts this dried film but I have not noticed any clogs either way. I noticed all of this because I coated the end of my tub with this too because there is a dip in the tub that likes to hold water....
