Very simple to use and holds water extremely well. Even in Maine winter temperatures, this works amazing. Last night it was -14°, today 8°, and the water did not freeze—only a few small ice crystals on top from the steam it creates. I also love that the cord is protected with a stainless steel cable, which adds durability and peace of mind. Highly recommend for anyone with outdoor animals during cold weather.

I purchased this last year for use in keeping fresh water available for the feral cats that show up. It works well with keeping water from completely freezing, even in sub-zero temperatures. This is the second year of use, and it is still working great. I would highly recommend it. Well worth the money.

This product works better than expected. I forgot to plug it in and the temperature dropped to 28 degrees and the water froze. Plug the unit in and in a couple of hours thawed the water. Good Bu.

I feed outdoor cats. I am feeding about 8-9 right now. In the past I would wake up in the middle of the night during winter and put fresh water in the water bowl, only to have it freeze up a half hour later. We had a really cold week last week in SW Ohio. (Not as bad as other areas) This bowl kept the water about the same temperature as tap water. Since you almost have to put dry food out for cats (raccoons, opossums, etc) they need water. This water worked extremely well! It was a hit with all of the cats. Well worth the money! I only wish I had bought a bigger bowl.

Works great in cold temps (and if they drink all of the water, the cats will use it as a bed). If it's is cold and very windy, it may freeze on the top, but I think if you keep the water level below half, it will be less likely to freeze.

Well built and it works!!! It keeps water at lukewarm even at single digits temperatures.

Worked even when it went down to -6F overnight! We are using this for our quail, and we finally have no more frozen water! It's been a game changer. I made a cover of chicken wire, so they would not take a involuntary bath in it and it's working great.

Good choice! There's a colony of feral cats for which our neighborhood provides shelter and food. However, fresh water is an issue here in Western PA in the winter. I bought this for just that reason. This morning our temperature was -10⁰F and the water was still liquid. A very good purchase.

-20C right next to the house the edges froze up but the dog could still get water. Unfortunately -40C was too cold out.

This is a well made product. After two months outside in an Alberta winter, it still looks new. It recently survived an extended period of snowy weather with temperatures reaching minus 32C and wind chills reaching minus 49C. It was sitting outside on our raised deck beside the house so it was partially sheltered from the wind. It never froze during that time. The thermostat works well and the water never heats to more than a few degrees above freezing in the warmer weather.

Probably quite good if you live in America

We have been using this item for 2 winters now. My cats and neighbouring cats, squirrels and birds all agree it works great. Ice starts to form at around -15°C, mostly icy under -20°C. When the temperature is very low, we replace the ice with fresh water and it takes around 6 hours for ice to form again. So, yeah, it does the trick. The only thing we worry a bit is that the srping protecting the electric wire is starting to rust. Overall, a great value for the price.
