Product description Emmer is the ancient ancestor of modern wheat. It is known as farro medium, or commonly as farro, in Italy. The Egyptians produced Emmer as a primary crop. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Roman general Julius Caesar favored Emmer above all other types of wheat. Directions Cook like rice: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, add 1 cup of farro, reduce heat, cover, and let it simmer for 25-30 minutes until tender. Review: Delicious!!! - This is just as the reviews I read said--an excellent product. It arrived quickly and in perfect shape. The Emmer is lovely, and very clean, with a delicious taste and I love that it is a whole grain. I will grind some for flour, but it cooks up as a grain well and will be very versatile. It was delicious hot with just a little butter and salt, made a great burrito filling when sauteed with the appropriate spices, and was awesome as a cold salad mixed with cherry tomatoes, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pepitas, green onions and olive oil. I soaked the grains overnight and cooked until al dente--the grains were chewy, yet tender, and I know I am getting all the goodness of the whole grain. It's a lot of delicious nutrition. Review: Whole Grain Goodness! - I love farro so much, but really prefer the whole grain version over pearled or semi-pearled. I know, I know - it takes sooo much longer to cook but it is sooo worth it! The nutty, chewy texture is delicious, and I use this grain for a bunch of dishes that I might otherwise use rice or quinoa for. Cannot beat the quantity and quality of this product.

Always have plenty on hand!
Great packaging! Clean grains. Taste and texture meet or exceed expectations. These grains go great in soups, salads, and even a yummy breakfast recipe using dates and almond milk. Add some walnuts for extra crunch and dried cranberries for a tart surprise.

Great quality, taste, and texture
I am in love with emmer. It cooks up well in my rice cooker in a ratio of 1 cup emmer, 2.5 cups chicken broth. To the broth, I add sun dried tomatoes, aromatic veggies, and spices. I make delicious grain bowls with the emmer, but itโs so good - with a pleasantly chewy texture - that I could just eat it with a spoon straight from the rice cooker.

sprouted abundantly
These grains sprouted perfectly, then dehydrated so that I can mill them into flour. They were wholesome, nutritious, and perfect for bread making.
