## Description

The Norton 3X Hook & Sand ceramic aluminum oxide coated 6" abrasive disc has a hook-and-loop mounting system for quick disc changes and 6 vacuum holes for use with a 6-hole random orbit sander. Abrasive discs with hook-and-loop attachments don't require mounting tools, don't lose adhesion, and stay tightly attached to the sander for quick and easy grit changes during the project. The ceramic aluminum oxide grit is a self-sharpening abrasive that is harder, tougher, and lasts up to three times longer than standard aluminum oxide, and is recommended for aggressive material removal of wood, metal, fiberglass, and plastic. The abrasive has been treated with a water-based zinc stearate coating that prevents clogs from forming and can be used in wet sanding applications. The abrasive and bond do not contain dyes, so colors will not transfer to the workpiece. The disc has an open coat, which resists clogging and promotes flexibility. Open coat abrasives produce a rougher finish when abrading difficult-to-sand materials because the abrasive grains are spaced farther apart than they are on a closed coat product. The fiber-reinforced A-weight paper combines the flexibility and lightness of paper with the strength of fiber to create an edge tear-resistant backing that delivers a consistent finish. They are used for a variety of applications — from shaping a part to fine finishing, depending on grit size. Low grit numbers such as 40 are coarse and are used for removing excess material and shaping a part. High grit numbers such as 400 are rated as fine and help create a smooth surface finish. Closed coat abrasives are 100 percent covered with abrasive grains, which extends the abrasive's life, maximizes material removal, and achieves finer finishes on metals and hard materials than an open coat. Closed coats are only recommended for use with non-clogging materials. For open coat abrasives, 50 to 75 percent of the surface is evenly covered, which provides a rougher finish because the abrasive grains are spaced farther apart than on a fully coated product. The gritless spaces promote flexibility and resist clogging when abrading difficult-to-sand materials. The flexibility or rigidity of the abrasive product is also affected by the choice of backing material (either paper, cloth, or fiber). Paper backing, the most flexible backing option, contours to the workpiece and delivers a more consistent finish than fiber or cloth backings. Paper backings are categorized by weight from lightest to heaviest (A- to F-weight respectively). Cloth backings are slightly more rigid, durable, and tear resistant than paper backing, but can still withstand repeated flexing. Cloth backing is categorized by weight from lightest to heaviest (J-, X-, Y-, and H-weight respectively). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing life of pads, blew away my Bosch pads right away

Man these are awesome. I picked up the pricy Bosch 6" 1250DEVS sander as i was needing to strip the crazed gelcoat on a Livingston boat i got for free. My 5" Bosch sander was taking way too long and the grinder with metal wheel worked too fast. Upon ordering the new sander I purchased these, once my sander came I tried it out with the sanding disc that came with it, needless to say that pad lasted less than 3 minutes before starting to come apart. Knowing I had actual fiberglass too in other areas I was going to be sanding I was skeptical on the longevity of these pads. I put one on, and it is still on, after 5 hours of sanding, this first pad still has much life left.I will say these might be pricey but it is totally worth it, even value wise when you compare how many other pads you'll go through.

The seller delivered a product that did not match the advertised product. The seller withheld the prepaid return label cost after I returned the item saying there was nothing was wrong with the product. They sent me a product different than advertised and won't provide the full refund! Repeated contact attempts go unanswered. Buyer beware.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Good sanding performance, but pad falls off sander in less than 30 mts of use

First of, what you get when you order this is not the product shown in the picture...it is the newer version of the product with a lot of tiny holes in the sanding pad.The video in the product description shows the correct product.I used a punch to create 6 holes in the sanding pad corresponding to the holes in my sander,so this was not a problem.The pad worked very well while it was actually attached to the sander. Unfortunatelythe velcro-like hook and loop side of the sanding disk is of poor quality.The disk falls of the sander in under 30 minutes of use and there is no adhesion left.The abrasive side was still in good shape, but it does not help if the pad does not stick.
